Thamar University and the Academic Accreditation Council Sign Agreement to Prepare Four Programs for Programmatic Accreditation

■ The Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council and Thamar University signed an agreement today to prepare four of the university's academic programs for national programmatic accreditation. This move aligns with the university's drive to enhance program quality and meet accreditation requirements and standards, and took place in the presence of the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hassan Al-Sa’adi.
During the signing ceremony, the Minister of Education and Scientific Research emphasized the importance of universities pursuing academic accreditation. He commended the Accreditation Council's efforts to support both public and private universities, noting that programmatic accreditation for medical and health programs is a current priority. He added that this reflects the universities' commitment to developing their programs and elevating the quality of education and its outcomes.
From his part, the Chairman of the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council, Prof. Dr. Adel Mohammed Al-Matari, highlighted the Council's commitment to providing technical and advisory support to the university throughout the preparation stages for the four programs, in accordance with approved programmatic accreditation standards. He explained that the preparation process encompasses conducting self-evaluations of the programs, conducting field visits to assess their actual status and review their documentation, and holding training workshops, culminating in external reviews and the completion of accreditation procedures.
Thamar University Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, stated that the agreement targets the Laboratory Medicine, Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), and Nursing programs.
The initiative aims to provide technical and advisory support to the university, assisting it in meeting quality and programmatic accreditation requirements. He added that the agreement falls within the university's strategic plan to complete the academic accreditation process for its programs, progressing from programmatic accreditation to institutional accreditation.
He also noted that the university was the first in Yemen to obtain programmatic accreditation for its Medicine and Surgery program and is currently working to prepare its remaining academic programs for accreditation. This effort aims to enhance program quality and elevate the outcomes of university education. The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Adel Mohammed Al-Matari, the Chairman of the Council for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance, and Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University.
The signing ceremony was attended by Council member Prof. Dr. Mounir Al-Mikhlafi, the Council’s Legal Advisor, Mr. Nasr Madar, Acting General Director of Accreditation Dr. Hussein Hanash, the General Director of Quality at the Council Dr. Mohsen Al-Hazmi, the Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences Prof. Dr. Adel Emran, university faculty members Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Haifi and Dr. Fuad Abdulrazzaq, the Dean of the University’s Center for Development and Quality Assurance Dr. Walid Dahya, the General Director of Financial Affairs Mr. Abdulghani Al-Hajjaji, and Mr. Ahmed Al-Ahsab.
