Training Workshop on Professional Development for Teachers of Cultural Courses at Thamar University Thamar University Media/ Jamal Al-Bahri/October 31, 2023 ■ Under the auspices of the Rector of Thamar University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al - Haifi, the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance organized today a training workshop to implement the strategic goal contained in the strategic plan for the year 2022-2026 to develop the capabilities of Faculty members in the use of teaching methods and modern evaluation methods labeled as "Effective University Teaching Strategies". At the workshop, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Adel Al-Ansi pointed out the importance of the workshop held by the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance in order to promote professional development among the Faculty members of cultural courses at Thamar University. Dr. Al-Ansi stressed the importance of teaching and cultural awareness to University students in developing the skills of teachers of professional cultural courses and raising their abilities in Effective University Teaching. From his part, the Professor of Science Curricula and Scientific Education at Thamar University Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Sane to the importance of characterizing courses according to the standards and methods of Effective University Teaching and the importance of adhering to professional ethics. He reviewed a number of teaching methods, the specificity of each method, the importance of understanding the difference in response between students, and ways and methods of effective communication with students to achieve the highest degrees of satisfaction, responsiveness, and excellence among students. The approved training program included four training sessions within the two-day workshop for 30 trainees as the program is of high importance at the University for raising the efficiency of teachers of cultural courses in teaching, improving the quality of University outputs, and spreading the concepts of culture, values and basic knowledge in higher education. The workshop was attended by the Head of Training and Technical Support Unit at the Quality Center, Dr. Ahmed Al-Furasi and the General Director of Media at the University.
