The Dean of Academic Development: The Center Attaches Importance to the Continued Investment in the Qualification of the Teaching Staff

■ On the sidelines of the conclusion of the training workshop on professional development for teachers of cultural courses at Thamar University in the Training Hall of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance under the auspices of the Rector of Thamar University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi and attended by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Adel Al-Ansi which concluded today with the distribution of certificates to 30 trainees, University Dean of the Center, Dr. Zaid Al-Hadur talked to University Media and stressed that the center pays special attention to workshops in the field of professional development of Faculty members, especially with regard to Effective University Teaching strategies because of their positive impact on improving the Educational process.
Dr. Zaid Al-Hadur explained that this workshop comes to achieve the strategic goal contained in the strategic plan of the University (2022-2026) related to the development of Faculty members' abilities in using modern teaching methods and evaluation methods.
He added that (30) members of the Faculty of cultural courses at the University participated in this course and it lasted for two days in which participants learned about the most important active learning strategies that can be applied when teaching cultural courses and a set of activities related to the implementation of these strategies were applied inside the classrooms.
He pointed out that the center attaches importance to the continued investment in the qualification of the teaching staff and the development of their skills to enable us to achieve the vision of Thamar University in providing distinguished education, qualifying its graduates to be active members of society and contribute to building a better future for the country.
The Professor of Curricula and Teaching Methods at Thamar University, Dr. Ahmed Massad Al-Hadi, the trainer in the training course stressed the importance of Training Professors of Cultural Courses on Effective University Teaching Strategies to contribute to raising the efficiency of Professors and improving their teaching performance.
Dr. Al-Hadi pointed out that these training workshops are necessary to develop the capabilities of faculty members at Thamar University in order to improve and develop the Educational process. Continuous University Training is crucial in developing teaching skills and implementing modern teaching methods which contributes to enhancing the quality of Education and improving the learning experience of students.
He also added that Thamar University encourages these training workshops as a part of its vision to promote Higher Education and works to provide training opportunities and develop the teaching staff, so that they can provide distinguished and effective educational experiences for students.
He stressed that the acquisition of university teaching skills requires continuity and follow-up to the latest developments in the field of vocational rehabilitation and faculty members should be aware of how to use modern strategies inside the classrooms with students.
Dr. Al-Hadi pointed out that the impact of these modern strategies on the Education process is undeniable as they contribute significantly to improving the quality of the Education system through the use of these strategies, students' participation and interaction in the learning process are enhanced and their mental and practical skills are developed and the university recognizes the importance of keeping abreast of developments in the field of University Teaching and the application of modern strategies to achieve effective and attractive Education for students.
About the importance of course descriptions, Professor of Science Curricula and Scientific Education at Thamar University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Sane referred to the importance of characterizing courses according to the standards and methods of effective University Teaching, considering the characterization of courses as one of the pivotal factors in planning the learning and teaching process at Thamar
University, it helps students to understand the content of the course and its goals clearly.
Dr. al-Sane pointed out that participants should be keen to provide a safe and stimulating learning environment for students and follow a variety of teaching methods, innovative and meet the needs of different students.
He pointed out that the workshop reviewed a number of different teaching methods and highlighted the specificity of each method, adding that active learning encourages active participation and enhance interaction in the learning process, because collaborative learning supports student cooperation and building communication and teamwork skills.
Dr. al-Sane considered that learning based on cooperation and interaction constitutes an opportunity for students to apply knowledge in real projects, thereby enhancing practical and Applied Learning, ensuring the assimilation of students' different responses to the material presented in the course, and employing methods and tools of effective communication to ensure the highest level of satisfaction and interaction and excellence among students.
The Head of the Training and Technical Support Unit at the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center, Dr. Ahmed Al-Furasi, pointed out that the workshop comes within the framework of the University's response to establish comprehensive quality standards, and it included thirty participants from teachers of Arabic language, Islamic culture, and National Culture at the University and that two of the most important Professors of Culture and Literature at the University who have high skills in training have been selected for training in this workshop.
