The Development Center at Thamar University Organizes the Third Professional Development Meeting with the Rehabilitation Program for Primary Grade Teachers Thamar University Media / Jamal Al-Bahri / October 16, 2023 A professional development meeting program for Faculty members, supervisors and student representatives of the teacher qualification program for Grades 1-3 was held today in the training hall of the Academic Development Center on Thamar University Campus. This is the third meeting that helds to provide participants with effective teaching skills for primary school teachers. At the meeting, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, welcomed the participants and expressed the University's keenness to activate community participation and provide community services in cooperation with the executive offices in the Governorate headed by the Office of Education. Prof. Al-Haifi explained that the aim of the program is to develop the skills of primary grade teachers in basic education during their current period of service in cooperation with the Education Office in the Governorate and funded by the German Organization for International Cooperation. The president of the University stressed the keenness of Thamar University to improve the outputs of basic education in the Governorate because most of those outputs will return in the form of inputs to University education, and he also stressed the keenness to overcome any difficulties that may face the implementation of the program. From his part, the Facilitator of the meeting, Dr. Zaid Al-Hudor, the Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance at Thamar University, pointed out the importance of addressing the problems faced by teachers enrolled in the qualification program. Dr. Al-Hudor noted that the program seeks to develop the skills and knowledge of teachers to improve the quality of education and achieve positive results in the teaching process. Through the continuation of the program and its continuous follow-up problems and obstacles can be identified and corrected to ensure the achievement of the desired goals. Also, Mr. Mohammed Hassan Al-Hadi, the Director of the Education Office in the Governorate spoke at the meeting and stressed that this program is one of the most important aspects of cooperation between the office and the University. He stressed the importance of continuing this cooperation and developing it to include broader areas of cooperation, so that it serves the educational process and improves its outputs. He stressed the need for participants to benefit from the concepts and literature of the program and apply them on the ground in schools. He also pointed out the importance of activating the outcomes of the meeting to improve the educational process in general and enhance the quality of education in the province. In addition, Mr. Ali Al-Bassir, the Head of the Training and Rehabilitation Division at the Education Office praised the fruitful and sustainable cooperation between the University and the Office. He stressed the importance of this cooperation in the field of training and improving the necessary skills of teachers. He pointed out that this cooperation contributes to developing the efficiency of educational staff and achieving continuous improvement in the quality of education. He also expressed his hope for the continuation of this cooperation and its expansion to other areas that benefit students and society in general. The meeting was attended by twenty-six participants from specialists equally between the University and the Education Office.
