Thamar University Organizes a Specialized Workshop on Strategies for Teaching Cultural Courses and Strengthening Faith-Based Identity

■ As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance academic performance and develop the competencies of faculty members, the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center at Thamar University organized a workshop today entitled: “Modern Strategies for Teaching Cultural Courses and Their Practical Applications in Strengthening Faith-Based Identity.”
The workshop was held under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University and Chairman of the Coordination Council for Universities, Colleges, and Technical and Health Institutes, with the participation of faculty members from Thamar University and other public and private universities, colleges, and institutes in Dhamar Governorate.
The workshop, which was dedicated to instructors of cultural courses, addressed three main themes. The first theme, presented by Associate Professor Dr. Ahmed Musad Al-Hadi, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, focused on modern strategies for teaching cultural courses, reviewing the most prominent contemporary teaching methods that contribute to raising the level of student engagement and achievement.
The second session, presented by Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al-Mawshki, a faculty member at the university, focused on reviewing the practical applications of cultural course teaching strategies. This included demonstrating models and teaching methods applicable within classrooms, enhancing the effectiveness of the educational process and bridging the gap between theory and practice.
The third session, presented by Hassan Hassan Al-Mawshki, the University Rector's Consultant for Cultural Affairs, addressed the role of cultural courses in strengthening faith-based identity. It explored mechanisms for employing modern strategies to instill faith-based and national values and cultivate student awareness within a balanced academic and educational framework.
The workshop witnessed active scholarly engagement from the participants, including several interventions and discussions that addressed the current state of cultural course teaching and the opportunities available for developing its content and delivery methods to achieve the desired educational and pedagogical objectives.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, affirmed that developing teaching methods for cultural courses is a key pillar for enhancing the quality of university education. He emphasized the importance of translating the workshop's outcomes into effective teaching practices within classrooms, contributing to the intellectual and academic development of students and strengthening their faith and national identity.
From his part, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, explained that the workshop is part of the center's ongoing professional development plan. He affirmed the continued implementation of high-quality training programs that meet the requirements for improving academic performance and enhance the competencies of faculty members in accordance with the latest educational trends.
The workshop concluded with the presentation of certificates of participation to the attendees. The ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Essam Wasel, the Rector's Assistant for Centers Affairs, Dr. Rashid Al-Sanfi, the Vice Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, and Nasser Najad, the General Secretary of the Center.
