Two Training and Description Workshops for Academic Development and Quality Assurance at Thamar University

■ Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, Thamar University organized today an intensive training workshop on the mechanism for reviewing and describing academic programs and courses with the aim of developing the capabilities of heads of quality units in colleges.
 
Another workshop was also held in cooperation with the College of Agriculture, focusing on reviewing and approving the description of bachelor's programs in the college.
 
In the two workshops, Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabibah, The Vice-Rector of the University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, stressed the importance of the training workshop in developing and enhancing the skills of heads of specialized units in quality management.
 
He discussed the specificity of the College of Agriculture and the necessity of describing its programs based on the efforts made by the college and its faculty members, as well as preparing for this workshop, which will discuss the difficulties and challenges facing improving performance, and providing opportunities for creativity and development in the College of Agriculture.
 
From his part, Prof. Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, pointed out that this workshop was distinguished by introducing the practical application aspect of training skills with the aim of developing and enhancing the skills of quality unit officials in colleges.
 
He explained that the practical practice of describing the programs of the College of Agriculture courses helps in understanding the typical mechanism for organizing and creating descriptive templates, as the program is discussed and reformulated by those concerned in the College of Agriculture, with the participation of heads of quality units and their experts at the University level.
 
Dr. Al-Ansi pointed out that these programs, after being described will open up horizons for financing the college's programs, including postgraduate programs in line with the research map of the Republic of Yemen.
 
From his part, Dr. Zaid Al-Hadour, the Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance, explained that these efforts come within the framework of the University's continuous endeavor to improve the quality of education and ensure that academic programs conform to international standards.
 
Dr. Al-Hadour pointed out the efforts made by the Rector of the University and his deputies to support the Center for Development and Quality Assurance in completing the description programs for the various colleges of the University, including the College of Agriculture. Pointing out that the programs of the College of Agriculture that are being discussed are submitted for technical review by specialists in the center and the relevant units, while the scientific and academic review was carried out in cooperation with specialists in the College of Agriculture.
 
In turn, Prof. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector of the University for Student Affairs, praised the efforts of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance, and those in charge of the course, considering that this intensive training course was distinguished by its program, and providing the opportunity for trainees from the heads of units in the colleges to apply the mechanism of reviewing, describing academic programs, and curricula in a practical and direct manner, and reviewing, approving and describing the bachelor's programs of the College of Agriculture, noting that all these workshops serve, first and last, the interest of the student and raise his level and improve what he receives from education in the halls of Thamar University.
 
The workshops were attended by Dr. Mohammed Hutram, the General Secretaryof the University, the heads of Quality Units at the Center for Development and Quality Assurance, the General Secretary of the Center, Quality Officials in the various colleges of the University, the Leadership of the College of Agriculture, and a number of Stakeholders and Representatives of the Labor Market.
