Thamar University Concludes the Martyr Al-Ghumari Sports League, Crowning Engineering Champions in Football and Computer Science Champions in Volleyball

■ Thamar University concluded its sports activities and the Martyr Al-Ghumari Cup football and volleyball league this morning at the University Stadium. The league was organized by the Vice Presidency for Student Affairs, represented by the General Directorate of Youth Welfare and the Student Forum, under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs.

The tournament, which ran throughout the past academic year 1447, witnessed active participation from various university faculties in a highly competitive atmosphere characterized by sportsmanship, and contributed to showcasing student talent and abilities in the field of sports.

In the final football match, which was intense, evenly matched, and full of excitement, the College of Engineering team managed to secure the championship title. The College of Computer Science and Informatics team finished as runners-up after a remarkable performance that earned the appreciation of the attendees.

Following the match, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, along with several university leaders, presented the College of Engineering team with the football championship trophy and awarded medals and certificates to the players. The College of Computer Science and Informatics team was also recognized for their second-place finish.

In the volleyball competition, the College of Computer Science and Informatics team won the championship trophy after an outstanding run, while the College of Engineering finished in second place. Both teams were honored with trophies, medals, and certificates of appreciation.

Dr. Al-Rifai expressed his gratitude to the University Rector, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, for his continuous support and sponsorship of sports and cultural activities. He also commended the efforts of the Student Affairs Office and the refereeing committees for their contributions to the success of the various sporting events and competitions held at the university during the 1447 academic year.

He affirmed that the students of Thamar University represent exemplary models in the fields of athletic competition and are also distinguished in the fields of science and learning, wishing them success in their academic journeys and that they may be a source of pride for their country, their families, and their university.

The closing ceremony was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics, Professor Dr. Bashir Al-Maqalih the General Secretary of the Faculty, Bandar Al-Duhmali, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Abdullah Abbas, its General Secretary, Ali Al-Thumrani, the General Director of Student Activities, Ahmed Al-Awmari, as well as a number of university leaders and a gathering of academic, administrative, and student staff.
