Thamar University Enhances Intellectual Awareness Through Student Cultural Competition

■ In line with its commitment to fostering cultural awareness, the Student Cultural Competition was held today in the Martyr Al-Ghumari Hall at Thamar University, organized by the Vice Presidency for Student Affairs, represented by the General Directorate of Student Activities, the competition was held under the patronage and in the presence of Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, and with the participation of his deputy for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, in partnership with the University Student Forum.

The competition was organized as a part of the university's initiative to activate purposeful cultural activities as a means of supporting the educational process. The event witnessed a wide academic and administrative attendance. The judging panel consisted of Dr. Essam Wasel, the Head of the Libraries Department, and Hassan Al-Mawshki, the Consultant of the University Rector for Cultural Affairs. The University Registrar, Abdulmalik Al-Muallami, the General Director of Student Activities, Ahmed Al-Awamri, and a number of college leaders and representatives were also presented.

In his address, the University Rector emphasized the importance of holding such cultural events, which contribute to shaping the student's character, enhancing their cognitive abilities, and fostering a spirit of positive competition among the university's colleges. He noted that the university is committed to supporting and sponsoring high-quality student activities that strengthen the intellectual and cultural development of its students.

From his part, the University's Vice-Rector for student affairs praised the competition's outstanding level of organization and participation. He commended the colleges and students for their engagement and affirmed that these activities are a cornerstone in building a generation of university students who are aware and capable of positively integrating into their academic and social environments.

A number of the university's colleges and centers participated in the competition, including the Colleges of Computer Science and Information Technology, Medical Sciences, Medicine, Engineering, Education, Administrative Sciences, Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, as well as the Institute of Continuing Education and the Computer Center. The participation reflected a diverse range of knowledge and a distinguished level of scientific competition among the competing teams.

The results of the student competition saw the Faculty of Medical Sciences take first place, followed by the Faculty of Medicine in second, and the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics in third.

In the female student competition, the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics secured first place, the Faculty of Medical Sciences came in second, and the Faculty of Engineering finished third. The event concluded with a successful organization and the achievement of its cultural and educational objectives.
