Thamar University Celebrates the Prophet's Birthday, Launches Student Activities and Honors Excellent Students

■ In celebration of the Prophet's Birthday for the year 1447, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, and Prof. Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, the General Administration of Youth Welfare in the Student Affairs Office at Thamar University, in cooperation with the University Student Forum, organized a special celebratory event. The event launched the new year's cultural and sports activities, welcomed new students, and honored outstanding students in cultural activities and top high school students.
The ceremony began with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem. Everyone then stood to recite Surat Al-Fatihah in memory of the nation's martyrs, most notably the Prime Minister of the Republic of Yemen and a number of his fellow ministers, who were targeted by the treacherous Zionist aggression, martyrs on the road to Jerusalem.
In his speech on this occasion, the University Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi spoke about the greatness of the Prophet's birthday and the unifying faith and spiritual moment it represents for the nation.
He also emphasized the status of the martyred leaders who passed away in defense of the homeland and the nation's major issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause. He praised the honoring of the Republic's top students from the university's affiliates, emphasizing that Thamar University will continue to be a home and supporter of all innovators and pioneers in various fields, based on its mission to nurture talent and create scientific and cognitive leadership in the country.
In turn, the University Vice-Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai delivered a speech in which he expressed the university's pride in its distinguished students who have achieved advanced positions in various student activities nationwide.
He pointed out that honoring the winners and top students in the Republic's secondary school certificate program encourages and supports their academic progress, especially since the occasion coincides with the commemoration of the Prophet's birthday, which amplifies its spiritual and national significance.
He also condemned the crime targeting the national leadership, praying for forgiveness and mercy for the martyrs, a speedy recovery for the wounded, and victory and empowerment for Yemeni and Palestinian people and all free people in the nation.
From his part, and in the presence of the General Director of Student Activities, Ahmed Al-Omari, the University Rector's Consultant for Cultural Affairs, Hassan Al-Moshki, spoke about Yemeni people's close connection to the Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and the importance of commemorating the Prophet's birthday as an expression of loyalty and emulation of his fragrant life.
He emphasized that the sacrifices of Yemeni people and the caravans of martyrs they offer are an act of devotion to God and an act of obedience to His directives to uphold truth and support the oppressed. He also emphasized that these values represent the essence of the deeply rooted faith identity that has distinguished Yemenis throughout their history.
The event concluded with a wide attendance by a number of university leaders, most notably the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Abdul Karim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Adel Al-Ansi, the General Secretary of the University, the Deans and Deputies of colleges, Department Heads and General Managers, as well as a host of Academic and Administrative Staff, students from a number of colleges and members of the University Student Forum.
