Thamar University Student Affairs Office Launches Cultural Activities for the Academic Year 1447 with a Poetry Competition

■ Under the slogan "You Are Not Alone" and with a burning determination inspired by the spirit of loyalty to Palestine and its Mujahideen, and coinciding with our people's celebration of the Prophet's birthday, the General Administration of Youth Care and Activities at Thamar University, the Student Affairs Office organized a poetry competition.
The competition was graciously sponsored by Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, and supervised by Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Abdulfattah Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs.
The event began with a poetry competition before the university leadership and the evaluation committee, consisting of Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Al-Bahla, Dr. Abdullah Asbah, and Dr. Issam Wasil. The competition was attended by enthusiastic students from various colleges, reflecting the resonance of the Palestinian cause and the story of Yemeni resilience. The attendees listened to poetic texts that offered solace to the afflicted and expressed the university's sentiment.
The poets presented their poems in a lively competition that embodied the university's image as a platform for cultural expression and national sentiment, as a part of the cultural competitions organized by the Higher Education Sector of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research.
The ceremony featured a speech by the University Rector, who praised the organizers, the judging panel, and the poets. He called for galvanizing efforts and expanding the competition to include all university colleges and departments.
He also considered Thamar the province of poetry and poets, and the university its center of enlightenment and culture. He emphasized the importance of discovering and developing cultural and poetic talents and encouraging creative individuals.
Professor Dr. Al-Rifai talked and emphasized the importance of these events in enhancing the presence of university youth and highlighting their talents.
There were sixteen students from various colleges participated in the competition, including the Student, Al-Sadhan, who won first place among Yemeni universities in last year's competitions.
The poems varied between classical, popular and free verse. The competition's success resonated with the contestants, reflecting Thamar University's cultural and mobilization values.
The event was also attended by a group of academic and administrative leaders, including deans, department heads, college secretaries and general directors of general administrations, as well as activity directors and specialized judging committees.
Among those attendees were Dr. Adel Emran, the Dean of the College of Medical Sciences, Dr. Salah Al-Qawsi, the Vice Dean of Continuing Education, Mr. Mishaal Sharhan, the Assistant General Secretary for Financial Affairs at the University, and Ahmed Al-Amri, the General Director of Activities.
