Thamar University participates in discussing and approving the general policy for coordination and admission in Yemeni universities for the academic year 1447

■ At the behest of the Rector of Thamar University, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Haifi, Prof. Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector of the University for Student Affairs and the General Registrar of the University, participated today in the meeting of the Student Affairs Council for Yemeni governmental and private universities held at the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research headed by Minister Hassan Al-Saadi, which discussed the general policy for coordination, admission and capacity for the academic year 1447, 2025-2026.
 
The meeting, attended by the Deputy Minister Dr. Hatem Al-Dais, the Undersecretary of the Higher Education Sector Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, the Vice-Rectors of Yemeni Universities for Student Affairs, and a number of Rectors of private universities, approved the draft general policy for admission and capacity, taking into account the amendments and observations submitted. 
 
The attendees, in the presence of the Executive Director of the Information Technology Center, Dr. Fouad Abdulrazzaq, and the Ministry's Advisor, Mr. Mahmoud Al-Salawi, reviewed the reports submitted by Yemeni higher education institutions regarding the coordination and admission process for the past academic year via the electronic portal, the difficulties, obstacles, and proposed solutions.
 
The meeting approved setting a unified date for opening coordination and admission in public and private universities for the academic year 1447, starting from the eighth of Shawal and setting a period of a full month after announcing the secondary school results as an opportunity and a final date for closing the electronic portal for coordination and admission for the specified academic year, provided that the university calendar begins on the first of Muharram for all levels except the first level.
 
The meeting also approved the adoption of the capacity and admission rates in public and private universities with various admission systems, according to the latest closing rates that were adopted last year, provided that coordination and admission be exclusively via the electronic portal of the Information Technology Center and that no student who registers outside the framework of the portal is accepted, regardless of the circumstances and justifications.
 
The meeting approved the right of students who have obtained a secondary school certificate (Quran and Sharia Sciences Supplementary) or a three-year or five-year teacher diploma to enroll in the programs of "Islamic and Arabic Studies, Sharia and Law, Sharia Sciences, Quranic Sciences and Humanities" according to the coordination and acceptance conditions specified in this policy.
 
It also approved not accepting students who have obtained a secondary school certificate from outside Yemen except after it has been equated by the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research and approving the absorption of graduates of specialized vocational secondary schools (commercial, agricultural, engineering) in colleges and specializations corresponding to their qualifications or humanities specializations and the announced acceptance rates for secondary school students, subjecting them to a competitive exam according to the mechanisms followed.
 
The attendees agreed to set the age of secondary school for enrollment in government and private higher education institutions at 12 years as a maximum for scientific specializations and to allow students who have obtained a secondary school certificate whose qualifications have been more than 10 years old to enroll in various administrative and humanities specializations in government and private universities.
 
The meeting discussed the possibility of reconsidering the conditions for transferring the student so that he lives in the university to which he transferred at the same level from which he transferred in the university in which he was studying according to the conditions and subjects stipulated in the regulations.
 
In the meeting, the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Al-Saadi directed Yemeni universities to deal with the directives issued by the Ministry, adhere to the university calendar and implement the general policy for admission and registration during the academic year 1447, stressing the keenness to provide all facilities and cooperate with Yemeni universities to enable them to perform their mission in the desired manner.
 
In turn, Dr. Hatem Al-Duais and Dr. Luqman stressed the importance of discussing the general policy for coordination and admission and enriching it with observations and suggestions and reviewing the difficulties and problems facing universities and students during the coordination and admission process and finding the necessary solutions and treatments for them according to the regulations.
 
From his part, the General Director of Government Education in the Higher Education Sector, Mohammed Zahra, reviewed the difficulties that faced the coordination and admission process in government universities during the past academic year and the failure of some universities to adhere to the general policy for admission and coordination and the proposed solutions and treatments.
