■ In line with strengthening the national and social responsibility of academic institutions, the administration of Thamar University held an expanded meeting this morning, chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the University Rector.
The meeting was attended by his deputies, assistants, advisors, deans of faculties, the General Secretary and his assistants, and a number of faculty members and administrative staff. The meeting, held in Al-Muqaleh Hall at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, addressed several national issues and reviewed the university's role in promoting community awareness and highlighting the plight of Yemeni people.
The meeting addressed the importance of activating the contributions of academic and administrative staff in raising awareness of national issues, highlighting the siege, aggression, and systematic media warfare Yemen is facing, along with the accompanying campaigns aimed at distorting its image, undermining its historical and cultural standing, and discrediting its national leaders and competent individuals. The meeting also discussed attempts to influence public opinion and falsify facts.
Furthermore, the participants discussed the dimensions of the media and incitement campaigns directed against Yemen, including efforts to influence the independence of national decision-making and to dissuade Yemen, both its leadership and its people, from its stances on Arab and Islamic issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, and its opposition to normalization and subservience to foreign projects and policies.
The discussions emphasized the importance of utilizing the university's scientific, intellectual, cultural, and media capabilities to construct a sound awareness-raising discourse based on knowledge and facts.
This discourse should contribute to clarifying the dimensions of Yemeni grievances, refuting biased claims, and enhancing society's ability to respond consciously to campaigns of misinformation and distortion. This will reinforce the university's enlightening role and its responsibility towards the issues of the nation and the Arab world.
Participants stressed the necessity of expanding academic, cultural, and media outreach with intellectuals, thinkers, and free thinkers around the world. This will help amplify Yemen's voice to international public opinion, raise awareness of its positions and issues, strengthen international solidarity, and highlight the true nature of the challenges facing Yemeni people.
The meeting comes within the framework of Thamar University's leadership's commitment to strengthening the university's presence within its national and community environment, activating the roles of its academic and administrative staff, and expanding its contributions in the fields of awareness, education, and cultural and media communication. This stems from its academic mission and its social responsibility to build awareness and engage with national and critical issues.
