Thamar University Welcomes New Students and Launches University Activities Coinciding with the Prophet's Birthday

■ At the Palestine Conference Hall, the Vice Presidency of Thamar University for Student Affairs, represented by the General Administration for Youth Welfare and the Student Forum, held a ceremony to welcome new students for the academic year 1448. The event also included the launch of cultural and artistic activities and the honoring of students who won awards in university activities during the year 1447.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, and Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, in a celebratory atmosphere commemorating the Prophet's birthday, under the slogan:)  "Say, 'In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy, in that let them rejoice, it is better than what they accumulate.'" and the theme for this year: " محمد رسول الله والذين معه أشد على الكفار ، رحماء بينهم."

In his address on this occasion, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, welcomed the new students, emphasizing that their enrollment at the university marks the beginning of a new phase in their academic journey. He stated that Thamar University, as a distinguished scientific institution and a well-established academic establishment, opens its doors to its new students, inviting them to be part of its academic journey and to serve their community.

He also commended their choice of the university and stressed the importance of investing their university years in academic achievement, developing their skills, and actively participating in various university activities.

The Unversity Rector affirmed that university education is not limited to academic achievement within the classroom, but extends to building the student's character and developing their talents and abilities. He noted that honoring outstanding students in cultural, artistic, and university activities is a recognition of their contributions and creativity, and an incentive for them and their peers to continue excelling and participating in university life in its various aspects.

Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi called upon students and university staff to actively participate in the central event that Thamar University will host to commemorate the Prophet's birthday on the twelfth of Rabi' Al-Awwal. He emphasized that the occasion will embody the values ​​of pride, dignity, and steadfastness that this anniversary represents, and will reflect the strong community and student presence of Dhamar University on this occasion.

From his part, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector of the University for Student Affairs, welcomed the attendees, foremost among them the University Rector. He affirmed that welcoming new students is an important opportunity to greet the new cohort of students and involve them from the beginning of their university journey in various programs and activities that contribute to shaping their personalities and developing their talents and abilities.

He pointed out that the Prophet's birthday is a unifying occasion to recall the values ​​embodied in the life of the Prophet Mohammed, expressing his pride in Thamar University hosting the central event for Dhamar Governorate on this occasion. He affirmed that the university will dedicate its resources to serving and ensuring the success of this event, reflecting its academic and community standing and its role in serving the governorate.  The ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Ismail Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Essam Wasel, the Assistant to the Rector for Centers Affairs, Dr.

Mohammed Hutrum, the General Secretary of the University, as well as the deans of the Faculties of Medical Sciences, Computers and Information Technology, and Education, and a number of academic and administrative leaders, faculty members and students.

The program included diverse cultural and artistic segments that reflected the spirit of the occasion. These included a poetry recitation, a folkloric performance, and musical performances by "Youth of the March" group, all of which were met with enthusiastic participation from the audience. The event combined celebration of the religious occasion with the showcasing of student talents and cultural identity.

In the awards ceremony, students who excelled in cultural, artistic, and academic activities during the academic year 1447 were honored for their outstanding performance and achievements. This recognition also underscored the university's commitment to supporting student creativity and encouraging participation in activities that complement the educational process and contribute to building well-rounded university students.

Furthermore, several colleges and students were recognized for achieving top rankings in Quran recitation, poetry, cultural, and sports competitions at Yemeni university level. This accomplishment reflects the university's students' presence in national cultural competitions and highlights the wealth of talent and potential within its colleges, enabling them to compete and achieve top positions.
