The Minister of Communications Commends Thamar University During Visit to University Headquarters, the University Honors the Minister and Discusses Cooperation and Partnership

■ At the University Headquarters, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, received the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Engineer Mohammed Ahmed Al-Mahdi, and the CEO of TeleYemen, Dr. Ali Naji Nassari, along with their accompanying delegation. The meeting aimed to strengthen the partnership between the university and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and to expand cooperation in the fields of digital transformation, information technology, and cybersecurity.



The meeting was held to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the university and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.  The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs,  Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Essam Wasel, the Rector's Assistant for Centers Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Hutrum, the General Secretary of the University, and his assistants, Dr. Ahmed Yafa’a, Head of the Faculty Members Syndicate, as well as a number of deans, university leaders, and faculty members. The Ministry delegation included several leaders and officials from the Ministry.

The two sides discussed a number of topics and issues of mutual interest, most notably strengthening institutional cooperation in the fields of communications and information technology, developing specialized academic programs to keep pace with rapid digital transformations, building national capabilities in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence; supporting the university's technological infrastructure, and expanding cooperation in training, development and scientific research.

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology praised the academic and institutional development witnessed at Thamar University, emphasizing that it has become one of the most prominent Yemeni universities thanks to its significant achievements in recent years and the development projects it has implemented, which have contributed to strengthening its scientific and academic standing at the national level.

The Minister pointed out that the requirements of the current stage necessitate aligning academic programs with the needs of the country and the labor market, particularly in the fields of communications, information technology, and cybersecurity. He stressed that universities and scientific research institutions are the primary incubators for preparing national talent capable of leading the digital transformation, and that integration between state institutions and universities represents a strategic choice for achieving sustainable development and building a knowledge based economy.

From his part, the Rector of Thamar University welcomed the Minister of Communications and Information Technology and his accompanying delegation, expressing his appreciation for the Ministry's interest in strengthening cooperation with the university. He affirmed that this visit reflects the Ministry's commitment to building effective partnerships with higher education institutions in service of national objectives in the areas of digital transformation and innovation.

The University Rector explained that Thamar University is giving exceptional attention to developing computer science, information technology, and cybersecurity specializations by updating academic programs according to modern standards, creating specialized tracks that meet labor market needs, expanding the establishment of specialized laboratories, and introducing modern systems and technologies into the educational process.This enhances the quality of academic outputs and provides state institutions with qualified professionals capable of keeping pace with the digital revolution.

He emphasized that the university is committed to building strategic partnerships with various state institutions and the public and private sectors, stemming from its mission to serve the community, contribute to achieving development goals, and strengthen the university's role as a center of expertise and a hub for knowledge production and innovation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Rector of Thamar University honored the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Engineer Mohammed Ahmed Al-Mahdi, the CEO of TeleYemen, Dr. Ali Naji Nassari, and several ministry leaders by presenting them with the university's shields and certificates of appreciation. This recognition was in appreciation of their efforts in supporting the university and strengthening joint cooperation in several fields, and in recognition of their contributions to developing institutional partnerships that serve the educational process, scientific research, and national development.
