Thamar University wins first place in the "Al-Aqsa Flood" Athletics Championship

■ Thamar University achieved a distinguished sporting achievement by winning first place and the "Al-Aqsa Flood" Championship Cup in the closing event of the Athletics Championship, which was organized for the first time among Yemeni University students, which was held in the Revolution Sports City in the Capital Sana'a and organized by the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports on the occasion of the annual anniversary of the martyr for the year 1446.
 
The championship, which witnessed strong competitions with the participation of 150 students from 20 public and Private Universities, over three days, aims to enhance the faith identity and moral education of university student athletes in the Republic of Yemen, as well as enhance communication and interaction between Universities and their students.
 
In the closing ceremony, which was attended by the Rector of Thamar University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, his Deputy for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. AbdulKafi Abdulfattah Al-Rifai, the Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hatem Al-Duais, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Education Sector, Dr. Ghaleb Al-Qanas, Thamar University was crowned first place after winning a number of gold medals.
 
Student Ali Mohammed Mansour from the College of Agriculture won first place in the 800-meter race and won a gold medal, while student Mohammed Ali Abdullah Mansour from the College of Computers won the gold medal in the javelin competition. In the 4x100 relay race, the University students were able to achieve first place and win 4 gold medals.
 
In the 400-meter race, student Mohammed Ali Mansour won second place and won the silver medal, while Ali Mohammed Mansour won the silver medal in shot put, and student Wissam Adel Omar won third place in the 100-meter race and won the bronze medal.
 
At the coronation ceremony, Dr. Al-Haifi expressed his pride in the honorable results achieved by the University students, praising their determination and insistence on excellence and affirmed his support for the talented and distinguished to represent the university in upcoming competitions and to win more cups and medals.
 
Dr. Al-Haifi added that Thamar University is full of distinguished competencies and talents that have shone in various academic, sports, and cultural fields, praising the youth leadership of the Student Affairs Department which has achieved remarkable achievements in recent years, whether in terms of organizing admission and registration processes or providing distinguished student services, in addition to the remarkable successes in student activities.
 
While the Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Education Sector, Dr. Ghaleb Al-Qanas, praised the efforts of Thamar University and its insistence on participating in all events and activities held by the Ministry.
 
For his part, Dr. Al-Rifai thanked God for the success that has befallen the University and its students and thanked the University Rector, whose support is credited for all the successive successes achieved by the University, appreciating the efforts made by the cadres of the Student Affairs Department and its administrative staff and praised the talents of the students which he described as unique, stressing that the students of Thamar University are not satisfied with anything less than first place, expecting them a bright future in international forums where they will represent Yemen in the best way with their scientific, athletic and moral excellence.
 
In turn, the General Director of Activities at Thamar University, Ahmed Al-Aomari, confirmed that the great effort made by the students was not in vain, as it was crowned by their leadership of the championship, raising the name of the University high, and expressed his pride and appreciation for the achievements made by the students which befit the status of the University.
 
In the same context, the General Director of Activities at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Abdulkarim Al-Dahhak, congratulated Thamar University for its well-deserved victory, praising the high sportsmanship shown by the University students and the distinguished level they presented during the competitions, noting that all University teams showed promising national talents that contribute to raising the name of Yemen.
 
The tournament concluded with an honoring ceremony attended by a number of leaders of Yemeni Universities, the Ministries of Higher Education and Youth and Sports, and leaders of Thamar University, including Dr. Issam Wasil, the Head of the Libraries Department, Dr. Salah Al-Qawsi, the Vice Dean of the Institute of Continuing Education and a number of youth and sports leaders.
