■ Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, inspected the university's Counseling and Psychological Care Center to review the preparations and arrangements for launching the first free charitable mental health camp, as well as the preparations for holding an awareness seminar on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.

The Unversity Rector, accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and the Director of the Counseling and Psychological Care Center, Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, reviewed the readiness to implement the camp and the free medical and psychological services it will offer.

The Unversity Rector also emphasized the importance of strengthening counseling and psychological care programs at the university, expanding their role in serving the community, and raising awareness about mental health and how to properly address its needs.

The Center's Director indicated that the camp, held under the slogan "Mental Health: A Priority and a Societal Responsibility," is a collaborative effort with Al-Riyada Hospital for Psychiatry and Addiction Treatment and other medical institutions. Its aim is to provide free psychological and medical services to beneficiaries, promoting awareness of mental health and facilitating access to specialized care.

He explained that the camp, scheduled for October 12th and 13th, 2026, will offer completely free services, including consultations, clinical psychological examinations, therapy sessions, and counseling support. It will also provide necessary psychiatric medications for those who require them. The camp will be held on the campus of Thamar University, in the building of the Counseling and Psychological Care Center.

The camp's accompanying events will include an awareness seminar commemorating World Mental Health Day. This seminar will address the importance of mental health, ways to enhance community awareness of it, and the role of educational and health institutions in providing psychological support and guidance.

This initiative comes as part of Thamar University's commitment to strengthening its role in community service and providing psychological counseling and support services. It also aims to link its academic and research roles with its social responsibility, contributing to the establishment of a culture of mental health awareness and the provision of high-quality services to the university community and the surrounding local community.

The visit was attended by the University General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Hutrum, the Head of the Media and Public Relations Department, Jamal Al-Bahri, the General Secretary of the Counseling and Psychological Support Center, Ahmed Muthanna, and a number of university leaders and center staff.
