The Rector of Thamar University Inspects the Counseling and Psychological Care Center and Commends its Growing Role in Serving the Community

■ The Rector of Thamar University, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, inspected the university's Counseling and Psychological Care Center during a field visit aimed at reviewing the center's operations and programs, and examining its annual report for 2025.

The University Rector was received by Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and the Director of the Counseling Center, and his deputy, Professor Dr. Abdu Farhan Al-Hymiari. They reviewed the center's key activities and development plans, discussed its needs and the challenges it faces, and explored ways to enhance the quality of services provided to university staff and the community.

During the visit, the University Rector inspected the autism unit at the center, a newly established specialized unit. He reviewed visitor records, which showed a significant and increasing number of patients, a positive indicator reflecting the community's confidence in the university's role and its growing social responsibility in the field of mental health.

The Counseling and Psychological Care Center provides a comprehensive package of medical and psychological services, including psychotherapy and free consultations to treat anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, and autism as well as addressing various other psychological disorders, through specialized and qualified staff.

During the visit, which was attended by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the General Secretary of the Center, Ahmed Muthanna, the General Director of Graduate Studies, Abdul Al-Marani, and the General Director of Scientific Research, Ali Zaid Al-Ansi, several center staff members and psychologists presented their efforts and future plans to expand the scope of services and improve their efficiency.
