■ Thamar University continues its intensive preparations for the 6th International Conference on Emerging Smart Technologies and Their Applications (eSmarTA-2026), hosted by the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics in partnership with the Yemen Research Foundation, on August 4 and 5, 2026, under the theme "Smart Transformation Towards a Secure and Sustainable Digital Future." This international scientific event reflects the university's growing prominence on the map of scientific research and innovation.

This announcement came during a media interview conducted by Sana'a Radio, coinciding with a field visit to the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics. During the visit, the university observed the progress of the organizing, scientific, technical, and media committees, which are working diligently to finalize all preparations for the conference, ensuring its success according to the highest academic and organizational standards.

Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, affirmed that the conference embodies the university's vision of solidifying its position as a leading academic and research institution. This vision stems from the university's belief that scientific research and innovation are the cornerstones of building a secure and sustainable digital future. He noted that organizing this international scientific event is an extension of the university's policy of engaging with global experiences, strengthening cooperation with universities and research institutions, and providing an international scientific platform for knowledge production, the exchange of expertise, and anticipating the future of smart technologies.

The University Rector also explained that hosting a distinguished group of scientists, researchers, and experts from within Yemen and abroad is a source of pride for Thamar University. It reflects the ability of Yemeni universities to organize international scientific conferences of high academic standards, thereby contributing to enhancing their presence on the international research scene, linking the outputs of scientific research to development needs, and keeping pace with the rapid transformations in the fields of artificial intelligence, smart technologies, and digital transformation.

He noted that the conference will commence on August 4th, emphasizing that the university has completed all preparations through a comprehensive system of working committees that are continuously meeting and preparing around the clock to ensure the conference is organized in a manner befitting Thamar University and its academic reputation. He welcomed all researchers, guests, and participants, wishing them a fruitful academic stay at the university.

From his part, the University's General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Hutrum, explained that the university leadership, represented by the University Rector, has placed the conference among its strategic priorities since the announcement of its hosting. All administrative, technical, and logistical resources have been dedicated to its success through the integrated efforts of the organizing, scientific, media, and technical committees. This includes preparing the halls, providing the necessary technical infrastructure, communication and internet services, simultaneous interpretation, and receiving delegations, all of which reflect Thamar University's distinguished image and its capacity to host international scientific events.

He emphasized that the university views the conference not as a fleeting scientific event, but as a strategic project that contributes to solidifying its position as a national and regional center for scientific research.

It also fosters sustainable research partnerships with universities and scientific institutions, enhances the quality of education and scientific research, and utilizes the conference's outcomes and recommendations to serve development and society.

He added that the conference features broad international scientific participation, with dozens of peer-reviewed research papers presented by researchers and experts from universities and research centers representing numerous countries. These papers are distributed across specialized scientific sessions discussing the latest developments in artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, the Internet of Things, robotics, software engineering, smart energy, communications, emerging technologies, and other fields shaping the future of the digital economy.

He noted that the conference represents an advanced scientific platform for promoting international scientific publications, supporting researchers and graduate students, building partnerships between universities and the public and private sectors, and translating research findings into practical applications and technological solutions that contribute to supporting sustainable development.

He explained that accepted research papers will be published in the conference proceedings after the completion of the peer-review process, and indexed in international databases. This will enhance the dissemination of researchers' scientific output, increase citation opportunities, and reinforce the growing standing of the conference within international academic circles.
