■ As a part of the focus on developing technical education and strengthening the infrastructure of specialized academic programs, Dr. Hatem Al-Duais, the Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research, and Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, inspected the classrooms and laboratories of the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics at the university this morning. They reviewed the level of technical equipment and the learning environment provided by the faculty to its students.
The Deputy Minister and the University Rector were accompanied during the visit by Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research; Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Essam Wasel, the Rector's Assistant to for Centers Affairs, Hadi Ammar, the Undersecretary for Basic Education; and Dr. Mohammed Hutrum, the General Secretary of the University. They were received by Professor Dr. Bashir Al-Maqaleh, the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics, the Vice Deans, the General Secretary of the Faculty, and a number of university leaders and academic and administrative staff.
The Deputy Minister and his accompanying delegation toured several classrooms and specialized laboratories and received a briefing on the development projects undertaken by the Faculty in recent years. These projects included the establishment and equipping of new laboratories and the modernization of the existing laboratories' technological infrastructure, all of which contribute to enhancing practical skills and improving the quality of graduates in the fields of computer science, information technology, and cybersecurity.
During the visit, Dr. Hatem Al-Duais praised the great attention given by the leadership of Thamar University to the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics, commending the efforts made in establishing a sophisticated educational and technological infrastructure, expanding the establishment of specialized laboratories, and modernizing existing equipment to keep pace with the rapid developments in the fields of computing and digital technologies. He emphasized that these efforts represent a genuine investment in building qualified national competencies capable of meeting the demands of the future and the growing digital transformation.
The Deputy Minister pointed out that developing the educational and training environment in technical disciplines is one of the main pillars for improving the outputs of higher education institutions. He expressed his appreciation for the level of organization, facilities, and attention given to practical aspects that enhance students' skills and prepare them to compete in the job market.
From his part, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi welcomed the Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research and his accompanying delegation, expressing his pleasure at this visit, which reflects the Ministry's leadership's interest in monitoring the conditions of public universities and supporting their development efforts.
He emphasized that Thamar University prioritizes the development of specialized colleges and the provision of a modern educational environment that meets the demands of the technological revolution and digital transformation.
The University Rector commended the remarkable progress achieved by the College of Computer Science and Informatics in recent years, whether in terms of academic programs, infrastructure, or specialized laboratories.
He noted that the college represents one of the distinguished models within the university in keeping pace with scientific and technological advancements, thanks to the efforts of its leadership and academic and administrative staff.
At the conclusion of the visit, both sides stressed the importance of continuing to develop technical programs, expanding the establishment of modern laboratories, and strengthening partnerships between the university and relevant entities.
