Thamar University Launches Cybersecurity Competition and Concludes Entrance Exams

■ In a competitive academic atmosphere, Thamar University launched the entrance exams for the parallel cybersecurity major at the College of Computers and Informatics.

Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, and Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, inaugurated the admission exams for 304 students who applied to compete for 90 seats in this newly unique major, which represents one of the university's pioneering steps towards modern and innovative specializations. With this exam, the university concluded the admission exams for all of the university's colleges and specializations.

The University Rector emphasized that the establishment of this department reflects a clear strategic vision to expand specialized specializations that meet the requirements of the modern era in the fields of information technology, neural networks and artificial intelligence.

Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi stated that the College of Computing and Informatics is equipped with an integrated infrastructure and qualified academic staff to teach the latest technical sciences. He added that the university's commitment to providing quality education that elevates its outcomes to world-class standards is a key pillar of its educational policy.

The University Rector praised the distinguished efforts made by the Office of Student Affairs in organizing the coordination, registration and testing procedures, as well as their electronic marking for all colleges. He emphasized that their performance was characterized by efficiency, speed and accuracy, and that these efforts contributed to the success of this vital stage of the competition.

He also noted that today marks the conclusion of the university's admission and competition tests, with coordination continuing for the remaining colleges and departments not included in the competition until Safar 20, 1447, ensuring the smooth and transparent academic process.

Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai also commended the wisdom of the University Rector and the leadership of the College of Computing and Informatics in choosing this important, specialized specialization, given its direct impact on enhancing national security across various sectors. He pointed out that this specialization prepares national competencies to confront the growing challenges in cyberspace and the dark web.

He also emphasized that the competitive exams were organized according to the highest standards of accuracy and discipline. He noted that answer marking is done electronically and with complete transparency, and that the results will be announced less than three hours after the exams end. Grievances will then be opened according to the schedule published by university media outlets, in conjunction with the publication of the model questions and answers. He emphasized the importance of students adhering to university regulations, adhering to university dress code and maintaining their faith and student ethics.

Fro. his part, Professor Bashir Al-Maqalih, theDean of the College of Computer Science and Informatics, along with his Deputy, Dr. Khaled Al-Husseini, and the College's General Secretary, Bandar Al-Duhmali welcomed the students accepted into this new major. He emphasized that their selection was based on precise criteria to ensure the recruitment of the most distinguished and creative students, with the goal of achieving quality educational outcomes that elevate the college's prestigious standing as a leader among public universities in the fields of computer science, information systems, and cybersecurity.

The inauguration was also attended by Dr. Mohammed Hatram, the General Secretary of the University, his Assistant for Financial Affairs, the Head of the Media and Public Relations Department, and a number of university leaders and faculty members from the College of Computer Science and Informatics.
