■ Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, in cooperation with the College of Applied Sciences, organized a scientific workshop today to discuss and approve the specification document for the "Ph.D. in Physics" program. The workshop was attended by a number of university, college, and center leaders.

The workshop, which was held in the training hall of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, opened with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem.

At the opening of the workshop, Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, emphasized that the program represents a qualitative addition to the scientific research process at Thamar University, noting that the College of Applied Sciences is one of the main colleges and a home for various applied sciences.

The Vice-Rector also commended the distinguished efforts of the Academic Development Center and its staff in preparing an academic profile focused on innovation and research excellence, qualifying the program's graduates to become leaders in the fields of scientific research, community services and sustainable development.

He explained that the program requires the preparation of two scientific research papers related to the thesis topic, one of which will be published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal at Thamar University and the other in a journal classified within recognized databases.

From his part, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center, noted that the College of Applied Sciences has witnessed the graduation of a number of its students in master's and doctoral programs despite the challenges, thanks to the efforts of the university leadership and the college leadership, represented by Dr. Abdulqawi Dabwan.

Heads of the Center's Units, and the center's General Secretary in preparing for this workshop and ensuring its success.

Dr. Al-Ansi explained that the new program aims to develop distinguished scientific competencies with master's degrees, equipping them with theoretical and practical skills that will qualify them for work in scientific research, university education, energy, water, electricity, and various industries.

It also aims to enhance knowledge of specific specializations in physics and develop advanced scientific research skills.

In his speech, Dr. Abdulqawi Dabwan, the Dean of the College of Applied Sciences, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the university leadership, the Academic Development Center and everyone who contributed to the preparation of this description.

He explained that the program seeks to prepare distinguished national competencies who will effectively contribute to advancing scientific and technological development in Yemen by harnessing physics to solve societal problems and challenges with a future-oriented scientific vision.

Dr. Dabwan added that the program aims to equip graduates with multiple skills, including mastery of theoretical and applied physics concepts, an understanding of scientific research methodologies and mathematical modeling, linking scientific research to development needs and the labor market and instilling the principles of scientific research ethics.

The discussion sessions were moderated by Dr. Adel Al-Ansi and Dr. Abdullah Ali Ahmed, while Dr. Adnan discussed the results and final draft of the document. The workshop was well attended by leaders from the university, the college and the center, giving it a high-level academic character.
