The meeting addressed several academic and research issues and made decisions aimed at developing academic programs and strengthening the university's scientific research efforts.
The Council began its meeting by reviewing and approving the minutes of the previous meeting. It also approved the final results for awarding Master's degrees to several researchers in the Faculties of Computer Science and Informatics and Administrative Sciences, as part of completing the academic procedures governing the awarding of academic degrees.
The Council also approved the titles of several Master's theses and doctoral dissertations and appointed their academic supervisors in diverse scientific, economic, and medical fields. These included green finance, financial inclusion, operational risks in the banking sector, and management innovation in the industrial sector, as well as specialized topics in dentistry and applied mathematics.
Regarding postgraduate programs, the Council approved the admission of 37 students to the Master's program at the College of Dentistry for the 2026/2027 academic year. It also discussed the PhD programs in Microbiology and Zoology within the Department of Life Sciences and approved the Master's program document for Pharmaceutics at the College of Medical Sciences. This enhances the diversity of academic programs and opens new horizons for researchers and students.
In the context of supporting scientific publishing and developing its system at the university, the Council approved the establishment of the peer-reviewed journal "Al-Adala" (Justice) at the College of Sharia and Law. It also approved changing the name of the College of Administrative Sciences' journal, a step aimed at supporting scientific production, promoting academic publishing, and expanding its scope.
The council also discussed a proposal from the Faculty of Administrative Sciences to provide free academic supervision for university staff, both administrators and faculty members, who wish to enroll in postgraduate programs. This initiative aligns with the university's efforts to encourage academic development, enhance research capabilities, and leverage the expertise of its academic and administrative personnel.
These decisions are part of Thamar University's ongoing efforts to develop its postgraduate studies system, expand its academic programs and specializations, and elevate the level of academic research and publication. This will contribute to developing specialized expertise, boosting knowledge production, and keeping pace with the demands of scientific and academic advancement.
