The Rector of the University Opens a Training Workshop to Manage the System of Open Scientific Journals Thamar University Media/ Jamal Al-Bahri / Jumada Akher 6, 1445. December 19, 2023 ■ Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, accompanied by his Deputies, Prof. Dr. Abdulkarim Ismail Zabibah, the Vice-Rector of the University for Higher Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Adel Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector of the University for Academic Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector of the University for Student Affairs opened today the training workshop held by the Vice-Rector of Higher Studies and Scientific Research at the Faculty of computing at Thamar University within the events of Al-Aqsa Flood held by Thamar University. The workshop will last for two training days in a row, under the title"Technical Management of Scientific Journals using the Open Journal System". It targets the researchers and interested participants from the Universities of Thamar, IBB, Al-Baydha, Al-Saeeda, Guinness, Al-Hikma, and Yemen. In the workshop, which opened with the reading of the Fateh in mercy for the souls of the martyrs of the army and the Popular Committees, and the martyrs of the Al-Aqsa Flood, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi with University guests from Yemeni Universities in other Governorates, Representatives of Private Universities and Attendees from Thamar University. The Rector of the University pointed out the importance of the stage, and the American and Zionist conspiracies that our country and Palestine are exposed to and spoke about the aggressive cyber and military attacks that the countries of the axis of resistance, including our country and Palestine are exposed to. The Rector of the University praised the operations of Yemeni forces in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab, and then the Rector of the University touched upon the importance of the workshop, which included guests from a number of Yemeni Public and Private Universities, dedicated to the topic of technical management of scientific journals using the Open journal system which is held under the title "Al-Aqsa Flood". He stressed that Thamar University pays great attention to these modern electronic systems in order to enrich the research work and facilitate the task of publishing accurate research for researchers. In the speech of the Vice-Rector of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Abdulkarim Ismail Zabibah pointed to the importance of this training workshop in enhancing the progress achieved by Thamar University journals at the national level, and promised that the Vice Presidency of Higher Studies and Scientific Research will adopt more courses and workshops during the coming period to enhance the field of Scientific Research at the University and link it more with the modern digital framework until reaching full automation. In this context, Prof. Dr. Adel Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector of the University for Academic Affairs and one of the trainers in the workshop about the importance of this workshop, which aims to raise the efficiency of editorial managers, and raise the competencies of Scientific Research to reach international quality. He provided a detailed explanation on how to manage websites, its role as a website administrator, as well as ways to manage users, and presented practical and training applications on the website of scientific journals which is one of the sites affiliated with Thamar University. From his part, the Workshop Trainer, Dr. Essam Wasel, pointed out the objectives of the workshop and the outputs that it seeks to achieve through the transfer of experience to the Heads and Editors of Scientific Journals. He touched upon the efforts of the Graduate Studies department in constructing the system of scientific journals which is a professional, controlled and reliable system that provides flexibility in the process of uploading, indexing, providing access to global databases, in addition to managing the editing process, as a result of these efforts, the University's journals received high-level ratings. In the speech of the Head of the Scientific Research Department, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Akwa welcomed the leadership of the University, thanked them for their interest in the programs of the Department of Scientific Research, supported its interests and gave a brief explanation about the workshop and its importance.
