■ In line with the university's commitment to transparency and equal opportunity, the Rector of Thamar University, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, along with the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, inaugurated the admissions and placement tests for the Faculty of Medical Sciences for the 2026-2027 academic year. The aim is to select the best students from among the applicants based on scientific and academic criteria.
517 students competing for 160 places, distributed equally across the four departments of the faculty, with 40 places allocated to each of the following departments: Medical Laboratory Sciences, General Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy, and Nursing.
517 applicants also participated in the tests. The tests were conducted in six examination halls distributed across two testing centers within the College of Engineering buildings. Organizational, administrative, and technical arrangements were in place to provide a suitable testing environment and ensure the smooth flow of entry procedures and the conduct of the tests in accordance with the approved regulations and procedures.
During the inauguration, the University Rector reviewed the examination process and the level of organization within the centers. He commended the efforts of the Deanship of Student Affairs, the College of Medical Sciences, and the organizing committees for their early preparations for the tests, reflecting the University's commitment to upholding the principles of fairness, transparency and equal opportunity for all applicants.
The University Rector emphasized that admission and selection tests are a cornerstone for ensuring the quality of academic outcomes and selecting students according to objective criteria that guarantee the attraction of scientific talent. He stressed the importance of adhering to the regulations and procedures governing the examination process, which enhances public confidence in higher education institutions.
From his part, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, explained that the university has completed all the technical and administrative arrangements for the exams, according to an organizational plan prepared by the Student Affairs Office in coordination with the College of Medical Sciences and other relevant departments. This plan ensures the smooth and orderly conduct of the exams and provides students with a suitable environment for taking their exams. He emphasized that the results of the electronic grading will be announced today with complete transparency and integrity.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the College of Medical Sciences, Dr. Adel Emran, expressed his gratitude to the University Rector, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, and to the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, for their continued support of student activities and the college's academic and training programs. He also commended the care and attention the college has received, which has contributed to achieving its goals.
He also commended the significant efforts of the organizing committees from the Deanship of Student Affairs and the College of Medical Sciences, praising their dedication, precision, and excellent organization. He specifically commended the outstanding role of the supervisory and organizing committees, represented by Dr. Abdulqawi Al-Shamakh, the Head of the Laboratories Department, and Dr. Hamoud Al-Mawshki, the Head of the Nursing Department, for their contributions to the success of the examinations and their outstanding execution.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Rector's Assistant for Research Centers , Professor Essam Wasel, the Vice Dean for Hospital Affairs, Dr. Abdulilah Al-Adhruei, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Sam Dawba, the University Registrar, Abdulmalik Al-Muallemi, the College Secretary, Ahmed Al-Mujahid, and several other university and college leaders.
