The Faculty of Medical Sciences at Thamar University Concludes its CPR and Disaster Management Course with the Participation of 200 Students

■ The Rector of Thamar University, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, concluded today the specialized training course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and disaster management. The course, organized by the Faculty of Medical Sciences in partnership with Dhamar Governorate Public Health and Population Office and Yemeni Red Crescent Society, lasted for one week and included 200 students from Medical Laboratories and Nursing departments, as well as interns. This initiative is a part of the university's efforts to enhance practical training and improve the quality of medical education outcomes.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Abdulfattah Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Rector's Assistant for Centers Affairs, Professor Dr. Essam Wasel, the Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Dr. Adel Emran, Dr. Hamoud Al-Mawshki, Dr. Abdulqawi Al-Shamakh, and a number of faculty members and academic and administrative staff.
During the ceremony, the University Rector praised the high standard of the course and its achievement of training and scientific objectives. He emphasized that the university is committed to implementing specialized programs that contribute to honing students' skills, enhancing their practical abilities, and preparing medical professionals with the scientific and practical competence to handle emergencies and serve the community effectively and efficiently.
He noted that practical training is a fundamental pillar of the university's educational system, and that investing in student development and professional skills is a top priority for the university, keeping pace with modern advancements in medical science and meeting the needs of the healthcare sector and the job market.
From his part, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, praised the effective partnership between the Faculty of Medical Sciences, the Public Health and Population Office, and Yemeni Red Crescent Society. He emphasized that this collaboration embodies the importance of cooperation between the university and health and humanitarian organizations in implementing high-quality training programs, contributing to the development of qualified medical personnel equipped with the necessary skills to handle emergencies and serve the community.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Dr. Adel Emran, affirmed that the partnership between the university and health and humanitarian organizations represents an effective model for integrating roles in preparing and training medical personnel. He commended the fruitful cooperation between the Faculty of Medical Sciences, the Public Health and Population Office, and Yemeni Red Crescent Society in implementing this specialized course, which contributes to enhancing students' practical skills and establishing a culture of effective emergency response and disaster management.
Dr. Emran also praised the outstanding efforts of the faculty and leadership of the College of Medical Sciences in ensuring the success of various academic and training activities. He particularly commended the efforts of Dr. Abdulqawi Al-Shamakh, the Head of the Laboratories Department, and Dr. Hamoud Al-Mawshki, the Head of the Nursing Department, for their dedicated work in preparing, implementing and ensuring the success of the course.
Dr. Hamoud Al-Mawshki, the Head of the Nursing Department at the College of Medical Sciences and the Head of Dhamar General Hospital Authority, emphasized the importance of translating the knowledge and skills acquired by the participants during the course into practical field applications.
He stressed that this would contribute to improving the efficiency of healthcare services and enhancing the readiness of medical personnel to handle critical and emergency cases, thus fulfilling the humanitarian mission of the profession and contributing to saving lives.
In his address on behalf of the Public Health and Population Office in Dhamar Governorate, Dr. Anas Salam expressed his appreciation to Thamar University and the Dean of the College of Medical Sciences for organizing the course. He also commended Yemeni Red Crescent Society for its active role in implementing and ensuring the success of the training program.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the University Rector honored the participating entities and trainers from Thamar University, the Public Health and Population Office, and Yemeni Red Crescent Society, in recognition of their efforts in implementing the training program and their contribution to the success of the course and the achievement of its objectives. He commended their efforts in transferring knowledge and practical experience to the participants, thereby enhancing their professional readiness and serving their humanitarian mission in the health sector.
