■ In a remarkable scientific event reflecting the university's awareness of its responsibility towards society and science in confronting addiction, Thamar University today witnessed the completion of the scientific sessions of the first scientific conference of the Medical Sciences College on addressing the challenges of addiction.
 
Twenty scientists and researchers from medical, health, psychological, and drug control disciplines presented a range of rigorous scientific papers that sparked rich and extensive discussion and widespread acclaim for their advanced level of knowledge and scientific content capable of opening new avenues in understanding and treating the phenomenon of addiction.
 
The scientific sessions extended throughout the day, witnessing high quality academic interactions between attendees and participants. Researchers discussed the results of their studies, which addressed addiction from medical, psychological, legal and behavioral perspectives. This enhanced the scientific value of the conference and emphasized that confronting addiction requires integration among scientific, health and social institutions.
 
The conference addressed a range of precise scientific issues. Research papers discussed the impact of addiction on the nervous and cardiovascular systems, and explored the psychological and social aspects extending within the family and society.
 
They also examined the dimensions of digital addiction in the age of technology and its behavioral effects, as well as the effects of addiction on pregnancy and childbirth, genetic and metabolic changes in the human body and the legal dimension of combating narcotics. These issues collectively painted a comprehensive picture, providing decision makers and medical and educational institutions with a realistic roadmap for prevention, treatment and awareness.
 
Following the completion of the research paper presentations, the Rector of Thamar University, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi delivered a speech in which he delivered his closing remarks, announcing the conclusion of this major scientific event and expressing his profound gratitude to the Governorate Leadership, the Leadership of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, the Rectors of Yemeni universities, the Participating Delegations, and the Scientists and Physicians from various disciplines who contributed to the conference's success through their attendance, research and discussions.
 
The University Rector commended the high quality of the research and working papers presented, which constituted a profound knowledge base upon which to build genuine national programs for combating addiction.
 
He also extended his thanks to the organizing, scientific, media, services, finance and exhibition committees, as well as the university's Psychological Counseling Center, represented by its dean, Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, Al-Wihdah University Teaching Hospital in Maabar, represented by its director, Professor Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Miqdad, Dhamar General Hospital Authority, represented by its head, Dr. Hamoud Al-Mawshki, the sponsoring companies and the students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, who played a pivotal role in the conference's success.
 
The University Rector tasked a specialized scientific committee with preparing the conference's final recommendations based on the research and working papers presented. This committee will coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure their implementation, each within its respective area of ​​responsibility, according to a comprehensive national vision that contributes to protecting society and addressing the root causes of addiction.
 
Following the conference's conclusion, an official ceremony was held to honor the university leadership, the conference chair, and the scientific and organizing committees. Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Chairman of the Higher Supervisory Committee and University Rector, was recognized for his efforts in sponsoring the conference.
 
Members of the Higher Supervisory Committee were also honored Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Mohammed Hutram, University General Secretary.
 
The conference chair also honored Professor Dr. Adel Emran, the Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, and his deputies, Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Haifi and Professor Dr. AbdueIlah Al-Adhruei, the college's General Secretary Ahmed Al-Mujahid, the heads of the academic departments and the committee chairs were honored in recognition of their efforts in ensuring the success of the conference.
 
The sponsoring companies and Dhamar General Hospital Authority were also recognized for their cooperation and support of the conference sessions and scientific exhibitions.
 
With this closing ceremony, Thamar University laid a new foundation for knowledge in the fight against addiction, affirming its commitment to remaining a national institution that fosters science and awareness and is capable of leading major initiatives that serve society and protect its future generations.
