Thamar University Concludes its First Scientific Conference on Addressing Addiction Challenges with a Grand Ceremony

■ The first scientific conference on addressing the challenges of addiction, held under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, concluded today, Thursday, at Thamar University with a grand ceremony reflecting the significant effort exerted over two days of scientific events, specialized awareness exhibitions and student activities.
The closing ceremony marked the culmination of a successful phase characterized by the unified efforts of academic and organizational teams. It was attended by a large number of academic leaders, officials, researchers and students, including Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Dhalai, the Rector of Amran University, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Mohammed Hutram, the General Secretary of the University. Several deans and their deputies, heads of academic departments, scientists, researchers, and representatives from various companies were presented as well.
Over two days, the conference addressed a range of scientific and research issues related to addiction. Researchers reviewed the effects of narcotics on the nervous and cardiovascular systems, and discussed the psychological, behavioral and social dimensions within the family and society.
Other papers addressed digital addiction and its health repercussions, the impact of addiction on pregnancy and childbirth and the genetic and metabolic changes associated with substance use. Legal and legislative discussions also covered mechanisms for combating addiction and raising preventative awareness.
Together, these themes formed a comprehensive scientific vision, laying a knowledge base upon which to formulate actionable recommendations to confront addiction and mitigate its effects.
The closing ceremony began with a speech by the University Rector and the Chairman of the Conference Supervisory Committee, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, who expressed his pride in the conference's resounding success.
He emphasized that the university had demonstrated, through this event, its capacity to lead on sensitive scientific issues affecting community security and public health. He commended the significant role of the supervisory and organizing committees, the scientific committee and all participants, stressing that the conference was not the end of the discussion, but rather the beginning of a broad national effort to combat addiction.
The ceremony included honoring the participating researchers and members of the various committees in recognition of their crucial roles in the conference's success. These included the Higher Supervisory Committee, chaired by the University Rector, the Preparatory Committee, the Scientific Committee, the Organizing Committee, the Media Committee, and the Finance Committee, as well as the faculty and students of the College of Medical Sciences, who played an active and dynamic role throughout all stages of the conference.
The ceremony concluded with the declaration of the conference's success in all its scientific, organizational and awareness raising aspects. This success was widely praised for the high academic standards demonstrated by Thamar University and for presenting a comprehensive model in managing a national scientific conference that serves the community and reflects the university's presence and leadership.
