Workshop "Updating Strategic Directions and Characterization of Academic Programs in Computing and Cybersecurity" at Thamar University Thamar University Media/Jamal Al-Bahri / Rajab 18, 1445. January 29, 2024 ■ A workshop was held today in the Hall of the Computer Center at the Faculty of Computing and Information at Thamar University to update the strategic directions of the Faculty, discuss and approve the two documents describing the doctoral program in computing and The Bachelor's program in cybersecurity, under the auspices of the Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, in implementation of the strategic goal contained in the strategic plan of the University for the years 2026/2022, related to the modernization of academic programs, their continuous development, and keep pace with changes in the labor market. In the workshop, which was held under the title "Al-Aqsa Flood", opened with the reading of Al-Fatiha to the souls of the martyrs of Yemen and Palestine, the Rector of the University stressed the importance of developing academic programs, characterizing courses in graduate and Bachelor's studies, considering that the characterization of academic programs, improving them in accordance with the requirements of development, and academic accreditation is one of the priorities of the University this year and the coming years. He pointed out that all programs at the University will be characterized and the application of academic standards and comprehensive quality standards on the highest national and international standards to ensure that Thamar University students receive the latest Educational programs, the finest and the highest efficiency and ability, as the University has succeeded in attracting and qualifying the best academic cadres, and therefore the University is keen to update its academic programs to be also more distinctive and modern. On the other hand, Dr. Al-Haifi spoke about the pain of the nation, Ghaza Pride and its steadfastness, describing Ghaza as the title of patience, sacrifice and redemption. He said that we suffer here as Ghaza suffers, our enemy is one, our trench is one, and our circumstances are the same, but Allah has loved us with the wise leadership that knew how to deal with our treacherous enemy, and I realized early that the best way to fortify the nation is to activate the duty of jihad and not to break and that the people of Gaza today in particular and Palestine in general live in the open, without homes, without education, without health, without Universities, without characterization, and without the lowest standards of quality of life. From his part, the Dean of the College, Professor Bashir Al-Maqaleh, welcomed the attendees and thanked them for the travel hardship incurred to attend this important academic scientific workshop, then spoke to the attendees on behalf of the college, Faculty member Dr. Fouad Abdulrazzaq, Executive Director of the Information Technology Center at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressing the importance of characterizing and updating the University's programs, both undergraduate and graduate programs, especially that Thamar University was a pioneer in the field of academic accreditation of Medicine and surgery programs at the level of Yemeni Public Universities. From his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Sadiq Hassan Al-Sharahi, expressed his happiness to be present at Thamar University, the majestic scientific edifice with its leadership and cadres, considering Thamar University a reference for Yemeni Universities in most procedures and programs. He added that we are glad to be among you today, and I firmly believe that my bachelor's programs in cybersecurity and PhD in computing will be accredited, so how not, and the hall today is packed with scientists, computing experts, quality and academic accreditation. In the same context, Dr. Mohammed Daifallah Al-Shammari, The General Secretary of the Academic Accreditation Council, spoke of his high appreciation for Thamar University's efforts to improve its Educational programs in Undergraduate and Graduate Studies, considering Thamar University one of the leading Universities in characterizing its programs, and seeking academic accreditation in several disciplines, under the patronage of Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University and the efforts of quality experts at the University, including Dr. Zaid Al-Hudur and Dr. Amal Al-Mujahid, and expressed his happiness with the University's keenness to improve its considering that most Private Universities, especially in the capital municipality, rely heavily on Thamar University experts in quality and academic accreditation, including Dr. Anwar Massoud, a Comprehensive Quality Expert. From his part, Dr. Zaid Al-Hudur, the Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance at the University, expressed his happiness to be among a constellation of quality experts at the level of the Republic hosted by the Faculty of Computers and Informatics at Thamar University and the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, hoping that the characterization of these programs will be a qualitative leap and a distinguished addition to the University's programs. He added that this is the 13th workshop of the development and characterization of graduate studies programs during the academic year 1445, which makes this year the year of development and academic accreditation of University programs. After the opening session, the workshop dealt with three main axes, the first axis was attended by Dr. Khaled Al-Hussaini on the subject of updating strategic directions, the axis was facilitated by Dr. Mohammed Al-Sharjabi, the second axis dealt with the description document of the doctoral program, its discussion and evaluation of the program, the second axis was attended by Dr. Maher Al-Sanbani and Dr. Abdulmajid Al-Maqdashi, and the third axis dealt with the presentation of the description document of the cybersecurity program, in which Dr. Abdulrahman Muthanna, Dr. Adnan Makrad, and the axis was pleased with Dr. Sharaf Al-Hamdi. The workshop was divided into two groups, the first group discussed the characterization of the doctoral program in computing, and the second group discussed the characterization of the cybersecurity program. At the end of the workshop, Dr. Khalil Al-Wajih presented the recommendations of the workshop and delivered its closing speech. The workshop was attended by a number of quality, development, evaluation and academic accreditation scientists and University leaders, including the University's General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Hutram, Dr. Ahmed Massad Al-Hadi, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Furasi from the University's Academic Accreditation Center, and the Directors of Media, Relations, University Security, and Financial Affairs, the General Secretary of the College of Computing, and the General Secretary of the Computer Center. https://www.tu.edu.ye/faculty/view/fci/2176/2637
