A workshop at Thamar University Discusses the Transition to Unified Study Plans at the Faculty of Education for the academic year 1447

■ Under the patronage of the Rector of Thamar University, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, Al-Razi Hall at the Faculty of Education hosted a workshop on Sunday morning to discuss and review the unified study plans and the mechanism for transitioning to them in the faculty's bachelor's degree programs for the academic year 1447, 2025-2026. The workshop was organized by the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance in cooperation with the Faculty of Education.
 
Attendees included Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector of the University for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector of the University for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Hutram, the General Secretary of the University, Dr. Ahmed Al-Hadi, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, his deputies, Professor Dr. Hamoud Al-Mulaiki and Dr. Ali Qaradha, Dr. Rashid Al-Sanfi, the Deputy Dean of the Center for Academic Development; and Nasser Najad, the General Secretary of the Center for Academic Development and the Faculty of Education. 
 
The workshop was attended by the Dean of the University, along with a large number of faculty members, heads of academic departments, and university leaders.
 
At the outset, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi commended the efforts of the Academic Development Center and the College of Education in organizing this important and distinguished scientific event. He emphasized that the College of Education is "the mother of all colleges and the wellspring of knowledge," noting that the workshop aligns with the university's commitment to unifying study plans and enhancing the quality of university education outcomes in accordance with the National Framework for Higher Education Qualifications.
 
In his address, the University Rector explained that the workshop's outcomes should be practical and implementable. He stressed that the university would not stop at the discussion stage but would work to transform the recommendations into concrete, practical steps.
 
He also noted that participation certificates would be issued in both Arabic and English in recognition of the efforts of the participants and organizers, and he praised the outstanding performance of the College of Education team, who work with "unified dedication."
 
From his part, the Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, emphasized the importance of the workshop in reactivating dormant programs within the unified curricula. He explained that unifying the curricula represents a strategic step towards enhancing the efficiency of academic programs and improving the quality of university education.
 
In his opening remarks, the Dean of the College, Dr. Ahmed Al-Hadi, welcomed the university leadership and attendees. As a part of the workshop program, Dr. Abdulkarim Mohammed Al-Mawshki discussed the philosophy, objectives and implementation mechanism of the unified curricula, noting that their primary goal is to achieve integration among courses and strengthen the unique characteristics of each academic program to meet the demands of the job market.
 
Associate Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Qaradha presented a comprehensive overview of the work of the College's Quality Unit, highlighting the efforts made to prepare academic departments for the implementation of the unified plan. This was followed by specialized discussion sessions for the academic departments to review the curricula and formulate appropriate recommendations, which were presented at the conclusion of the workshop.
 
The workshop concluded with several key outcomes and recommendations, most notably the approval and adoption of the unified curriculum for the College of Education's programs, the identification of elective courses for each department to enhance the quality of the college's graduates compared to those from other universities, a discussion of the most significant challenges anticipated during implementation, the development of practical solutions to address these challenges and the submission of final proposals to the Academic Development Center to complete the accreditation process.
 
This workshop is a part of a series of academic activities implemented by Thamar University to enhance quality and develop the educational process, thereby solidifying its leading role in modernizing academic programs.
