Thamar University Discusses Improving the Performance of the Colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine and Calls for Activating the Imprint and Qualitative Scientific Activities

■ Within the framework of enhancing the quality of academic and administrative performance, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, chaired an important coordination meeting that included the university leadership and the deans of the Colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine.

The meeting also discussed mechanisms for developing academic and administrative work and preparing for the new academic year 1447.

Participating in the meeting, which was held at the Deanship of the College, were Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, his assistant, Dr. Bashir Zendal, and Dr. Mohammed Hutram, the General Secretary of the University. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Abdulghani Al-Yahiri, the Dean of the Colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine and a number of academic leaders.

At the beginning of the meeting, the University Rector emphasized the importance of adhering to the timely submission of academic results, in preparation for the smooth and orderly launch of the new academic year. He emphasized that the strength of the academic staff at the two colleges requires a high level of achievement and institutional performance. During the meeting, several issues related to academic, student and graduate affairs were discussed.

The University Rector directed the activation of an electronic fingerprint system to monitor attendance and job discipline for members of the academic and administrative bodies, contributing to improved performance and ensuring workflow in accordance with the highest standards of institutional commitment.

The University Rector also called for the holding of qualitative scientific events that reflect the standing of the two colleges, highlight the competence of their staff and their ability to utilize available resources to develop the agricultural and veterinary sectors. He emphasized that these events represent a bridge between scientific research and community needs.

From his part, Dean Dr. Al-Yahiri and a number of the attending leaders emphasized the importance of communicating with the governorate leadership and relevant authorities to overcome the difficulties that hinder coordination and integration with agricultural and veterinary bodies and offices, thus enhancing the ability of the two colleges to fulfill their roles in serving local development.

The meeting was also attended by Professor Ahmed Al-Akwa, the Head of the University's Scientific Research Department, Dr. Mohammed Lutfi, the Vice Dean of the College for Academic Affairs, Abdu Al-Marani, the General Director of Graduate Studies, and a number of other stakeholders.This comes as a part of the university's efforts to integrate efforts and improve work across all its academic units.
