Thamar University supports the initiative of afforestation of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine with fruit trees

■ Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, along with the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Abdulghani Al-Yahiri check out today a distinguished initiative at the Faculty of Agriculture, which aims to plant the College's surroundings with fruit trees.
During the visit, the Rector of the University reviewed the samples that have been grown so far, as the initiative includes the planting of almost 200 seedlings of various fruit trees, such as oranges, lemons, pomegranates, peaches, apricots, berries and others, for the expenses of the college.
About half of the seedlings have been grown so far, by choosing the varieties that suit the soil of Dhamar and its cold climate.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi praised the efforts exerted by the leadership of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in working to improve the quality of Education at the Faculty, by planting a variety of fruit trees in the university environment.
Considering these trees of great benefit to students in explaining and conducting scientific experiments, strengthening means of protection, growing green cover.
From his part, Dr. Al-Yahiri expressed his thanks to Dr. Al-Haifi for his visit to the College and its continuous support, pointing out that these efforts come within the framework of the University Rector's vision to turn the College into a food basket and pointed out that the College is working to expand investment in the College's areas and its vast lands to promote Agriculture and achieve sustainable development.
The initiative of afforestation of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine comes as a typical experiment of the University in promoting environmental awareness and achieving sustainable agricultural development, as Thamar University enhances its efforts in building a healthy and beautiful University environment and lays the foundations for providing quiet green spaces for students and staff, developing a Culture of Environmental Protection and sustainability in the university community.
The visit witnessed the presence of the General Secretary of the College, the Directors of Public Media and Relations, the Rector's Office, and a number of employees at the college.
