Thamar University Launches Entrance Exams for 307 Students in Civil, Architectural, and Mechatronics Engineering

■ This morning, the competition for 307 places began at the Faculty of Engineering, Thamar University. The University Rector Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, along with the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, inaugurated the entrance exams for the Faculty of Engineering for the 2026-2027 academic year. The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Adel Al-Ansi, the Rector's Assistant for Centers Affairs, Professor Dr. Essam Wasel, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Fouad Al-Jermouzi, his deputies, heads of academic departments; a number of academic and administrative leaders, and the Rector and several members of the University Student Forum.

The launch of the entrance exams comes as a part of Thamar University's commitment to upholding the principles of fairness and equal opportunity, and to implementing academic admission standards that ensure the selection of the most qualified students for admission to specialized engineering programs.

The Rector of Thamar University, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, affirmed that the Faculty of Engineering represents one of the university's main academic pillars, possessing a wealth of academic resources and scientific expertise that has contributed to supplying state institutions and the labor market with qualified engineering professionals. He pointed out that the entrance exams are not merely a gateway to admission, but rather the first step in an academic journey based on excellence, competence, and merit, thus enhancing the quality of educational outcomes and solidifying the faculty's position as one of the leading specialized faculties at the university.

From his part, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, explained that the Student Affairs Office has completed all the technical, administrative, and organizational arrangements for the entrance exams, ensuring their efficient and orderly conduct in accordance with the admission regulations.  He confirmed that 307 applicants competed for 160 places across the departments of Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering, reflecting the growing interest in the College of Engineering and the increasing confidence in its academic programs and the quality of its graduates.

He noted that this development comes as a result of the significant attention given by the university leadership, headed by Professor of Civil Engineering Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, a faculty member at the College of Engineering, to the academic and institutional advancement of the college. This has contributed to overcoming several challenges faced in recent years, as well as expanding its infrastructure and introducing high-quality academic programs at the bachelor's and master's levels, thus strengthening its position as one of the leading colleges at Thamar University. He reiterated the university's commitment to providing a fair examination environment that ensures equal opportunities for all applicants, ultimately leading to the selection of the most qualified and deserving students.
