■ In a significant developmental step for academic work, Thamar University, under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the University Rector, organized a specialized workshop on the mechanism for transitioning to unified plans for undergraduate programs at the Faculty of Engineering, entitled "Alignment and Implementation."

The workshop was held in the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center, with the participation of academic leaders, faculty members, and those interested in educational affairs.

This workshop came within the framework of the university's efforts to modernize its academic programs in accordance with national standards and to enhance the quality of educational outcomes. The event began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech from the University Rector, who emphasized the importance of transitioning to unified plans as a strategic step towards unifying academic visions and achieving integration among the components of the educational process. He stressed the need for serious engagement with the workshop's content to achieve its desired objectives.

The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Professor Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, delivered a speech addressing the center's role in supporting academic transformation and program development. He noted that this workshop represents a significant milestone in improving the quality of academic programs at the College of Engineering.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Fouad Mohammed Al-Jarmouzi, reviewed the importance of aligning current plans with unified plans to ensure the preservation of the disciplines' identity while simultaneously updating their content.

The workshop, attended by the University General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Hutrum, and several university leaders, included a series of specialized presentations covering the legal framework of the unified plan.

These presentations reviewed relevant ministerial decrees and the advantages of transitioning to this model. Furthermore, practical examples of unified plans were presented for several engineering programs, including civil engineering, architecture, interior design and mechatronics engineering. The components of these plans and their implementation mechanisms were highlighted in a practical and systematic manner.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Madwahi and Dr. Khalid Al-Adimi each delivered specialized presentations on the workshop's themes, enriching the discussion and deepening understanding of the practical aspects of transitioning to unified curricula.

In a related context, participants discussed mechanisms for aligning academic content and ensuring that key concepts are not lost during the transition process. They emphasized the importance of striking a balance between development and preserving the core disciplines, thereby contributing to the preparation of graduates with the scientific and practical skills necessary to meet the demands of the job market.

The workshop concluded with group work sessions where participants exchanged views on how to implement the unified curricula.
