■ Sponsored by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, the Faculty of Engineering organized today a workshop to update strategic directions and develop Bachelor's programs in accordance with (NARS) standards.

In the workshop, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the Educational Affairs Sector, Dr. Ghalib Al-Qanes, Prof. Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, Vice-Rector of the University for Student Affairs, and Dr. Mohammed Hutram, the General Secretary of the University, welcomed the Vice-Rector of the University for Graduate Studies Prof. Dr. Abdulkarim Zabibah, with the guests of the University from the Ministry of Higher Education, and the participants in the workshop from Thamar University, other Universities, and the Labor Market.

Dr. Zabibah praised the efforts of the Quality Center and the leadership of the Faculty of Engineering in organizing this workshop which aims to update strategic directions and develop Bachelor's programs.

He praised the interest of the organizers of the workshop whose activities are entitled "Al-Aqsa Flood", as an expression of our solidarity and our feeling of the suffering of our people in Palestine.

Dr. Zabibah also stated that the characterization of postgraduate programs at the Faculty of Engineering will be announced soon.

From his part, Dr. Al-Qanes thanked Thamar University for hosting and noted his happiness in describing the programs of the Faculty of Engineering and solving the problems of the faculty thanks to the efforts of the new University leadership, especially the problems of Mechatronics.

The legal agent expressed his hope that the College of Engineering will be preparing to obtain academic accreditation, calling on the leadership of the college to quickly address the delay in academic schedules to ensure that final exams are held with the rest of the University's Faculties.

Dr. Zaid Al-Hudur, the Dean of the Academic Development Center for Quality Assurance, presented a summary of the Center's goals and the optimal steps to modernize engineering programs.

He pointed out that the University intends to announce this year as the year of academic development and modernization and that it held many workshops to improve academic curricula, noting the importance of enhancing teamwork and cooperation between the members participating in the workshop.

From his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Fouad Al-Jermouzi, pointed out the importance of the workshop agenda and pointing out that the college has organized previous workshops and took important steps to update strategic directions, develop Bachelor's programs, the importance of communication with the labor market, and ensure that study programs meet the needs of the changing labor market.

Moreover, the Head of the Quality Unit at the College of Engineering presented a summary of the stages that the College has gone through in developing its programs, educational strategy and academic in order to maintain the College's distinction among Yemeni and Regional Universities and ensure the improvement of its programs and their continuous development.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Yafaa facilitated the axis of updating the strategic directions of the scientific departments and the axis of presenting the NARS standards.

The workshop which was also facilitated by Dr. Saleh Al-Sanbani, Dr. Abdullah Abbas, and attended by the Head of the Training unit at the Quality Center, and the General Secretary of the College of Engineering, came up with a number of important recommendations, including announcing the draft architecture program, updating the mechatronics program, starting to develop the civil engineering program, and approving the proposed updates in the workshop agenda.

It was also agreed to define seven subjects as requirements for the Faculty, including the principles of scientific research, computer drawing, and professional ethics.
