Thamar University, Commemorating a Prominent Scholar on the First Anniversary of the Passing of Professor Dr. Khaldoun Noman

■ On the first anniversary of his passing, the Faculty of Arts at Thamar University organized a memorial service for Professor Dr. Khaldoun Noman, Professor of Archaeology and Museums, in the Martyr Al-Ghumari Hall at the Central Library.
The event was held under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, and in the presence of Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Hutram, the General Secretary of the University, Dr. Amin Al-Jabr, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, as well as a number of the deceased's colleagues and family members.
At the beginning of the event, the University Rector welcomed the attendees who had come from several governorates to participate in the memorial service for the late Professor Dr. Khaldoun Hazza, a prominent figure at Thamar University. The Rector of Thamar University then called for a moment of silence to recite the Fatiha (the opening chapter of the Quran) in remembrance of the deceased, asking God for His mercy and forgiveness.
The Rector of the University spoke of the deceased's virtues, praising his significant contributions to the university, his esteemed position among his colleagues and students and the enduring scientific and humanitarian legacy he left behind.
Following this, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Amin Al-Jabr, delivered a speech recalling the life of the deceased, who was one of the most distinguished faculty members, renowned for his character, humanity, knowledge, culture and profound understanding of archaeology, museums, and ancient civilizations in Yemen, the region and the world. He emphasized that his passing had left a great void in the academic community.
Professor Dr. Ali Saeed Saif, who accompanied the deceased throughout his studies, participated in the memorial service, expressing his profound sorrow and grief at the loss of a rare intellectual figure in one of the most important humanities disciplines, archaeology and museum studies. He noted that the deceased was an exemplary researcher, a noble colleague and a loyal friend.
Mr. Jubran Nuaman, a member of the deceased's family, also spoke, recalling memories of the departed and the positive impact he had on his family, neighbors, and friends. He spoke of the deceased's humility, humanity and distinguished social and cultural presence.
The event also included remarks from several of the deceased's colleagues and friends, including Dr. Essam Wasel and Muammar Al-Amri, who offered moving testimonies about the life of the deceased, his scholarly and intellectual contributions and his esteemed position within academic and professional circles.
The event concluded with the University Rector, his Deputies, and several attendees visiting the corner dedicated to Professor Dr. Khaldoun Hazza in the central library at Thamar University. There, they viewed his published works and scholarly contributions, in a fitting tribute to the legacy of a professor whose impact remains alive in the academic community.
