A Brief Summary on the Hospital
v The hospital was established and built with its equipment, supplies, furniture and supplies by the Kuwaiti Charity Association. Recently, the lecture halls and the Center for Motherhood and Childhood; childbirth, nursery, children and child care, and the Department of Malnutrition, were built in the hospital campus at the expense of Thamar University. This was reported for construction in the investment program for approved projects and had undergone the state budget so that it was opened and operated by the current hospital administration.

The hospital used to be affiliated to the Ministry of Public Health and Population. In view of the necessities of the public interest, Thamar University and the local council in the governorate agreed to enhance the relationship through making the partnership and access to the integration between medical education and health services. Thamar University had under taken to manage and control the hospital on its own budget. This agreement was made on 5/2/2003 and based on the resolution of the minister of Health at that time, Prof. Dr. / Abdel Nasser Al-Manibari, resolution No. 136 on 01/14/2003. A record of receipt and delivery to the hospital was made with all medical devices and equipment and was received on 23 / 2/2003. There are also buildings under construction, such as the oxygen factory building, the completion rate of which is 30%. All in all, the hospital capacity is 250 beds.
The University Teaching Hospital of Thamar University was fully opened in 2003, and the hospital provides two main services:
First: The Educational Service for teaching and training students of levels; fourth, fifth, sixth and Excellence, for human medicine students, laboratory students training and nursing students training. Second: The hospital also provides healthy medical services to the community as the hospital is one of the vital facilities in the university and is directly related to the community service as it is located at the crossroads of several important and main roads that link many governorates with the capital Sana'a. The hospital emergency works 24 hours. The hospital performs all major and mini operations with the cooperation with foreign doctors like of Cuban and Russian. It is the only hospital that works throughout the whole week regularly even at the weekends; it is operating at full technical capacity as the second governmental hospital in the province.
The location of the hospital at the crossroads linking a number of governorates of the Republic, as well as its location in a rural area, helps in the emergency interference situations such as of highway accident victims and social clashes victims as the hospital daily receives many and large number of this type. The hospital must be fully got ready to face these accidents at any time, especially at the emergency times.
About the hospital
Thamar University educational Hospital is considered to be the cross-area of vital facilities due to its direct link to the community service and is located in the Directorate of Jahran, which is a medium area in Dhamar Governorate. The hospital provides its health services to the directorate and many neighboring directorates at full capacity around the clock. The hospital provides various health care services to all segments of the society and receives all emergency cases of traffic and criminal accidents, gynecological and childhood emergencies, health disaster emergencies, spread of infection and various forms of fevers.
The hospital also performs various operations; the situation that necessitates the hospital gets ready and keeps open for 24-hours emergency even on official holidays in the presence of an academic medical staff and specialized medical doctors.
On the educational level, the hospital uses all its potentials and capabilities to serve the educational and training purposes of the Faculty of Medicine in its various departments; human medicine, laboratories, etc.
The hospital seeks to promote excellence and the sustainability of development according to criteria based on scientific and practical foundations and enables doctors to obtain education, rehabilitation and training. The hospital also seeks to provide the full opportunity for all the generations of doctors and meet the needs of society in all medical fields as well as support the scientific research in all medical and pharmaceutical fields.
VISION
Excellence in practicing medicine and providing an integrated healing and learning environment that contributes in localization of treatment within the country and upgrading the infrastructure through the replacement and development of the hospital equipment and facilities.
MISSION
The Hospital is providing distinguished medical services to the community people of the governorate and also to the neighboring governorates, to road accident victims through the highest levels of specialized health care following the internationally approved medical protocols. This is also done through upgrading the health status of society in absorbing the latest technology and scientific research developments in addition to educational and training programs for students of the Faculty of Medicine at the Thamar and other Universities, nursing institutes, and employees in other health sector through creating an integrated educational, research and professional environment. This is achieved at symbolic prices to ensure continued service provision in such circumstances under which the country is going through, taking into consideration the ethics of the profession and responsibility towards the community, in a way that guarantees the service of the patient and the local community with the maximum potential we have and the end use of the available capabilities.
