Dear visitors of the website of the Department of Banking and Financial Sciences, I am thrilled to welcome you to this website.
The Department was established in the 2003/2004, as the third department in the College of Administrative Sciences.
It is honorably to let you know that Thamar University was the first Yemeni university to establish this department. Its establishment came in line with the banking developments in Yemeni banking sector in terms of the expansion of the number of banks through establishing Islamic banks in the country. It has become an urgent needs that banks require specialized and qualified cadres who are more expertise and accurate than ever before. Thus, the establishment of the department was to keep up with the procession of the global banking developments, especially in the field of computerization and automation of banking business and the latest methods in providing banking services. In fact, the establishment of this department was in response to the need of the local banking market and other financial institutions in Yemen.
The department consists of two scientific programs; Bachelor and Master. The bachelor Program is in the field of Financial and Banking Sciences. About eighteen batches have graduated from this program up to the academic year 2018/2019. On the same way, the Master Program was opened in the academic year 2011/2012. It was opened to enable students to pursue their higher education. It awards M.Sc. in Financial and Banking Sciences and many students have finished their master degree.
The opening of a program came in response to the demand of the Yemeni banking market to specialists in finance and banking who are qualified with the latest global banking practices.
The department has endeavored to update and develop its scientific programs, so it works side by side within the efforts of the university and the college to develop the foundational structure for the requirements of obtaining comprehensive quality and accreditation and academic programs for the undergraduate and master program.
