In a step towards academic digital transformation, Thamar University launches the electronic library

■ In the framework of its efforts to keep pace with technical developments in the academic field, Thamar University launched today the electronic library in the central library on campus, under the slogan "A hand protects and a hand builds", and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, and in the presence of an elite group of academic leaders, faculty members and researchers.

The event was also attended by the Vice-Rectors of the University, Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabibah, the Vice-Rector of the University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector of the University for Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Adel Abdulghani Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector of the University for Academic Affairs, in addition to Dr. Mohammed Hatram, the General Secretary of the University, and a number of academics, researchers, and those interested in scientific, cognitive and cultural affairs.

In his speech during the event, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi stressed that the launch of the electronic library is a pivotal step in supporting the scientific and research process at the university, as it will contribute to students and researchers accessing scientific research, books and specialized references, whether at the undergraduate or postgraduate levels.

He pointed out that this project comes in response to the rapid developments in the world of knowledge and the need of researchers for reliable scientific sources that contribute to enriching their scientific production.

From his part, Professor Dr. Adel Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector of the University for Academic Affairs, reviewed the details of the project, pointing out the great efforts made in this regard, including subscribing to Arab and international scientific databases that cover various academic disciplines taught by the university, such as medical, economic, legal, agricultural, engineering and other disciplines, in addition to providing the turnitin plagiarism detection program to the university, which he provided an overview of and reviewed its importance in controlling scientific research and master's and doctoral theses.

In turn, Dr. Essam Wasil, the Head of the Department of Libraries, Printing, Publishing and Translation expressed his great happiness at achieving this accomplishment which he considered a qualitative leap in the university's academic journey.

He praised the great support provided by the university's leadership, stressing that the new electronic library is distinguished by the diversity of its contents and its inclusion of accredited research references and sources which will contribute to facilitating scientific research processes and raising the level of knowledge production at the university.

At the conclusion of the event, the Department of Libraries, Printing, Publishing and Translation honored the University Rector with a commemorative shield in appreciation of his continuous support for this project.

The academic and administrative team that contributed to the success of the process of inventorying paper libraries and establishing the electronic library was also honored by granting them certificates of appreciation in honor of their tireless efforts.
