Launch of an Intensive Training Course in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Accident Management for Medical Interns at Thamar University

■ Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Hassan Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, inaugurated this morning an intensive training course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and accident management. The course, organized by the Faculty of Medicine at Thamar University in cooperation with Najm Al-Jazeera Hospital, is designed for medical interns and graduates of the faculty and will run from Safar 19 to 23, 1448. August 2–6, 2026.

The inauguration was attended by the First Deputy Governor of Dhamar and Head of Public Mobilization, Ahmed Hussein Al-Dhurani, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Abdullah Al-Murtada, the Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Dr. Adel Emran, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Student Affairs, Dr. AbduIlah Al-Adhruei, as well as a number of faculty members, doctors, trainees, and the General Secretary of the Faculty, Ali Al-Bakhrani.

At the start of the event, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of Thamar University, affirmed the university's continued commitment to developing high-quality training programs that bridge academic qualifications with practical application. He noted that medicine is one of the noblest professions and that society places great importance on young medical professionals in enhancing health security and protecting lives. He stated, "Through your efforts and within your fields of specialization, a significant aspect of our society's health security will be achieved, God willing. You are required to combine scientific excellence, professional competence, adherence to professional ethics, and constant readiness to handle various circumstances and emergencies."

The University Rector explained that such training programs contribute to refining graduates' skills and enhance their preparedness to work in healthcare institutions, thus meeting the needs of the health sector and serving the community.

From his part, Ahmed Hussein Al-Dhurani, First Deputy Governor of Dhamar and the Head of Public Mobilization, commended Thamar University's focus on training medical personnel. He emphasized that the course comes at a crucial time, coinciding with preparations for commemorating the Prophet's birthday, which necessitates raising the level of health and emergency preparedness.

He pointed out that healthcare workers represent the first line of defense in facing emergencies and crises, citing the exemplary service provided by doctors and paramedics to communities during the aggression against Yemen, and the sacrifices made by paramedics in the Gaza Strip in supporting tens of thousands of victims of the Zionist aggression against civilians in Gaza and throughout Palestine. This embodies the noble humanitarian mission of the medical profession.

From his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine welcomed the attendees, emphasizing that organizing this course stems from the faculty's commitment to enhancing the practical and clinical aspects of training, raising the competence of interns and graduates, and enabling them to acquire the necessary practical skills to deal with emergencies and accidents according to the latest medical standards. This contributes to preparing qualified medical personnel capable of serving the community efficiently and effectively.

The course, held in partnership with Najm Al Jazeera Hospital, aims to equip participants with essential and advanced knowledge and skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), rapid response mechanisms for critical cases, and accident and injury management. This will enhance the graduates' competence and qualify them to handle various emergency situations according to modern medical practices, thereby improving the quality of healthcare services provided to the community.
