■ In a launch of the Scientific Illumination Gathering and the convergence of academic expertise, the Scientific Day event for the academic year 1447 was inaugurated this morning in Al-Maqaleh Hall. The event was dedicated to discussing the graduation research projects of the 22nd graduating class of students from the Faculty of Medicine at Thamar University.

The event was held under the patronage of Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, and in the presence of his deputies, Professor Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai for Student Affairs and Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Abdullah Al-Murtadha.

The event was attended by a notable number of university leaders, faculty members, department heads, and vice deans of the faculty, including Professor Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Miqdad, the Vice Dean for Hospital Affairs, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Adhruei, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, in an academic setting that reflected the spirit of excellence at the university and its scientific cohesion.

The event began solemnly with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national Anthem. The University Rector Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi then delivered an address, beginning with verses from the Holy Quran, invoking the importance of knowledge in human advancement.

He pointed out that universities, including Thamar University do not merely graduate students, but rather build a human infrastructure capable of uplifting society. His speech eloquently drew a parallel between the art of engineering, which he has practical experience in, and the medical field, in which students form a fundamental pillar.

He also emphasized that doctors and engineers are both builders of life and its systems, and healers of the human body, which God created in the best of ways. The interconnected systems within this body are intricately integrated, making the study of medicine a calling, not just a profession.

In his address, he noted that hospitals, water and sanitation networks, and roads are not simply engineering structures, but rather elements that support human health. He stressed that interdisciplinary collaboration is the optimal path to providing comprehensive healthcare. The students were urged to link their research to actual societal needs, anticipate future challenges and expand the humanitarian dimension in their medical practices so that the physician's hand remains imbued with both knowledge and compassion.

In his welcoming remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Al-Murtadha, expressed his appreciation for the University Rector's presence and patronage of the scientific day. He noted that this event represents a significant academic milestone for medical students who completed their graduation research under the supervision of 33 distinguished professors. He added that 130 students presented in-depth and diverse research projects that constitute a genuine contribution to medical knowledge.

He explained that a significant portion of the research focused on cancer, particularly genetic cancers, in response to directives from the political leadership and the call of the National Cancer Control Committee. Other research addressed diseases resulting from the aggression and blockade, and the subsequent problems of malnutrition.

Additionally, a series of studies centered on medicines and their alternatives, as well as medical industries derived from Yemeni natural resources. The discussion sessions were distinguished by the presence of a select group of scientists, researchers, and university leaders, including the Governor Secretary of the College, Ali Al-Bakhrani, and the General Secretary of the College of Administrative Sciences, Mr. Abdullah Rajih.

The discussants delved into the research details in depth and with a high level of academic rigor, culminating in recommendations that support future research paths. They emphasized the necessity of strengthening the integration between medical knowledge and applied studies to contribute to finding practical solutions to current health challenges.

The scientific day at Thamar University sent a clear message that the university, under its wise leadership, and the college, under its dynamic and energetic young leadership, are committed to consolidating their scientific and research role. It demonstrated that the university serves as a nurturing environment for innovation and knowledge, and that the research presented by its students, with its insights and solutions, is not the end of a phase, but rather the beginning of a professional and humanitarian journey that will lead these graduates to contribute to the service of society and humanity.
