Thamar University Discusses Mechanisms for Implementing Unified Academic Plans in the College of Medicine

■ The Council of the College of Medicine at Thamar University met, chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University, and attended by Prof. Dr. Abdulkafi Al-Rifai, the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Adel Al-Ansi, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, the Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Abdullah Al-Murtadha, his Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Al-Adhrai, the Dean of Hospital Affairs, Dr. Abdulsalam Al-Miqdad, the General Secretary of the College of Medicine, Ahmed Al-Mujahid, the General Secretary of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Nasser Najad, members of the College Council and members of the Committee for the Preparation and Implementation of Unified Curriculum Plans.
The meeting was devoted to discussing the adoption of unified study plans starting with the academic year 1447 (2025/2026). This was based on Memorandum No. (500) from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the academic year 1447 (corresponding to August 16, 2025 ), which concerns the unification of academic programs at public and private universities.
The Council emphasized the need to circulate the study plans to the relevant academic departments within the college and implement them starting from the first levels of the current academic year. It also emphasized the need to expedite the scheduling of a special workshop to discuss the mechanism for transitioning to unified study plans, ensuring the participation of the college deanship, department heads and faculty members.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of submitting periodic reports to the University's Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, including the level of implementation and any difficulties departments may encounter during the implementation process to help address these challenges in a practical and effective manner.
