■ In a step towards enhancing academic excellence, the leadership of Thamar University held an expanded meeting this morning at the Deanship of the College of Dentistry, chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University.
The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Zabiba, the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Akwa, the Head of the Scientific Research Department, the Dean of the College Dr. Nashwan Al-Tairi, the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies Dr. Mohammed Al-Samhari, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs Dr. Mohammed Al-Khawlani, and the General Secretary of the College, Mr. Hisham Al-Mahdi, in addition to a number of department heads and members of the administrative body.
The meeting discussed a number of issues, most notably the activation of graduate studies and scientific research programs and the affirmation of the college's commitment to the research roadmap approved by the university's Higher Committee for Scientific Research, which directs researchers' efforts toward national priorities and ensures the quality of research output.
The University Rector directed the need to link graduate programs to the university's electronic system (ERP-BL) and connect them to the SART system to ensure the unified and automated recording of student data, courses and the work of the scientific committee.
This will contribute to simplifying procedures and enhancing the efficiency of academic and administrative follow-up. The meeting also discussed mechanisms for motivating and honoring researchers, taking into account the specificities of medical colleges, including the College of Dentistry to ensure the continuity of scientific production and encourage publication in prestigious, internationally peer-reviewed journals.
The discussions also addressed the necessary measures to raise the university's ranking in medical specialties within the Arab World University Rankings. This includes updating academic plans, strengthening research partnerships, developing faculty members' capacities to write scientific projects, and attracting external funding.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the University Rector emphasized the importance of all departments and divisions working together to urgently implement the meeting's outcomes.
