■ In a move that reflects Thamar University's commitment to enhancing standards of academic excellence in the medical field, the College of Medicine held competitive exams and personal interviews for applicants to the announced medical specialties. The interviews were attended by Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Haifi, the Rector of the University.

The specialties for which applicants competed included orthopedics, urology, general surgery, ear, nose, and throat, diagnostic radiology, obstetrics and gynecology, general internal medicine and pediatrics.

These procedures were conducted under the supervision of a specialized committee comprising a select group of faculty members, academic leaders and the College's Quality Unit.

In his speech at the event, the University Rector expressed his deep appreciation for the pivotal role played by faculty members, particularly in leading government medical colleges.

He emphasized that the College of Medicine at Thamar University is a national model to be emulated, given its distinguished academic record and qualified teaching staff.

Prof. Al-Haifi noted that the college is the first among Yemeni Public Universities to receive academic accreditation in the specialization of medicine and surgery, reflecting its pioneering position in the educational and medical arena in Yemen.

He also commended the great efforts made by the college leadership, represented by its Dean, Dr. Abdullah Al-Murtadha, and the members of the academic committee charged with conducting the interviews, which includes the Dean and Heads of academic departments.

He expressed his great confidence in the committee's competence and its keenness to select the best among the applicants, ensuring that the college is provided with qualified medical personnel who will contribute to improving the quality of medical education.

This is achieved by establishing standards of competence and transparency in accepting personnel who will contribute to serving the Yemeni medical sector. The interviews were also attended by the University's  General Director of Academic Affairs, Mr. Saleh Naji, and the College's General Secretary, Mr. Ahmed Al-Mujahed.
